I REALLY CANT WAIT. What are people doing re track day insurance. Is it madness going without?

Is it madness going without?

Only if you crash.  :D

If it's your only car, you can't afford to replace it if you (or someone else) bends it and it's worth more than a few grand then I would consider insurance. I don't think TD insurance will cover mechanicals, so if you destroy the engine/gearbox you'd have to pay for that anyway.

If you're a novice then get an instructor early on. The corner that most often catches people out at Brands is paddock hill bend. Don't try too hard and you should be able to avoid going into the kitty litter.

Is an instructor there for help/laps?

They sit in the passenger seat with you and will help you go faster and teach you to drive in a way that should make it difficult for you to crash at the same time (i.e. being smooth with the inputs and using the throttle/brakes at the correct points).

Perfect. Bagsy...

Ahh just re-read ist page. Jake Hill. Wont there be 50+ people all wanting him in the car that morning though??!

Not everyone will be wanting/needing tuition - some will have been to Brands or other tracks before.

I went to an MSV/Brisky day nearly 2 years ago with Jake Hill and I think he set up a tuition list first thing so that people know what time they're on with him. More experienced people that still want an instructor should be happy to let the novices go first.

I'm tempted to come down even if it's just to watch/passenger!

Jake Hill will be there and will be happy to go out with novices but I AM NOT doing a list because last year a few people didn't pay him the £20 or £30 and I don't want to look silly.

Plus there are a few of us that are quite experienced and with race licenses if you want a few pointers.

Personally I've never bothered with track day insurance, mainly as my car is worth bugger all, I could rebuild it all into a spare one I have for less than any excess I'd have to pay on a claim.

You could argue what happens if I crashed into someone else and destroyed their car? Well, that's very unlikely as I don't drive like a plum and as harsh as it sounds, everyone is there at their own risk. If someone were to crash into me, I wouldn't be too impressed but I fully accept the situation I'm entering into and the risks involved.

Seems sensible. I'm not going to be doing 250 laps or anything.

I don't think trackday insurance covers third parties.

I don't bother with TD insurance for my Clio as it's not worth very much. If someone crashed into me I'd be properly miffed but it shouldn't happen if everyone follows the driver's briefing and uses their mirrors.

Was going to tag along to this one to catch up with you guys and perhaps grab a few passenger laps, but a work trip has come up and unfortunately I won't be able to come along.

Have a good time and i look forward to seeing the pictures/videos!

Polite reminder it's a bit less than two months away.

Deadline for balance of payment is one month before, so 14th October.

At which point spaces will be offered to people on the reserve list.

Four weeks to pay. :)

Balance sent

Now just got to keep the car in one piece until November. Currently everything is working

I shall send the rest of the money on payday on the 27th, my last minute ring trip used up all available funds :P

If I bent my Fabia I'd be annoyed but then take the opportunity for a colour change and do a few things differently :) Can understand those who have a little more invested in the car rather than just the bits packed in to the cheap shell being a little more concerned though.

Need to try and pack in an MOT, followed by some exhaust component removal and a map tweak before this... busy busy.

Those that are staying local Sunday night.. which hotel?

Seven oaks/ Wrotham premier inn :)

AHa..1st page.. Sevenoaks. Done :)

Not long to go now. The Boss Fox organised track days are exceptional see you all trackside.

so it looks like, due to a new job and new shift pattern, i'm going to be unable to make this now :(

I am not going to offer places on a one or two basis to reserves as it's a PITA.

Once we get to the deadline for payments ALL spare places will then be offered out.

If you can't come, please PM me (here or Facebook) rather than post on here, as it leads to people seeing and asking if they can have the place.  More messages and admin, are you on the list, yes, no etc...

Also so I don;t miss it.

Thank you. :)
