Footwell lighting

Featured Replies

Anyone retrofit footwell lighting? Any details and links would help, cheers.

2010 Facelift Octy Elegance.

I did it on my my12 vrs.

It's actually very simple I bought the whole kit from eBay and it's just a case of running the loom to the places where it's needed and a wire plugged into the module thingy in Footwell.

The holes are already there for the rear seat lights but need cutting for the front.

It then needs activating in vcds to get the menu on maxi dot.

They lights come on full with interior light and at a set percentage with headlights from menu.

Cheers, don't suppose you have the link to the kit, and a coding step by step?

Where does loom plug in.

Doh! I'm new to this kinda stuff.

That reminds me, I must fit it... and the tap you up to tell me where to wire it into mike!! :D

link for kit at BoldSport.

Wiring
On CECM, the pin you are looking to use for the positive feed for the lights is pin 50 in the centre (white) plug.
By doing it this way they will work as if they were fitted at the factory.
Connect negative to Ground.

I think I followed your write up in a thread when I did mine.

Got them on both my preFL. Different coding  and different position on the module where the feed wire goes.

Hi,

can u provide a bit more info regarding the coding adn the different possition on the module for the wiring in preFL?

Thanks

Don't wait for Mike to tell you, some kn0bhead annoyed him enough to completely leave the board. If you search on here though, there's a massive thread on retro fitted footwell lighting. Take your time looking through it and the info is in there. Guaranteed!

I've got the footwell lights too, but when i put the sockets in the lights wont turn off anymore, what could be the issue?

We have been checked issues with a cable and it said they are retrofitted.

Is this the same pin 50 on white plug for facelift?

  • 5 years later...

I know this is an old post. I have fitted all four lamps, connected the negative wires. Bought a pin 000979150E from eBay, I hope it's the correct one because he told me this will fit to PIN 50, which is a bigger metal pin. I have VCDS ready to activate but.......

I looked and I could not find number 50 on the plastic.

I took a picture to show, if you know which pin?

Thanks to your post - I have just bought a kit from Ali Express. I went for Halogen in the end and not the LED type as I think I prefer the OEM look.

Where have you mounted the rear lamps? Could you please post a image?

Pin 50. From what I can tell from your picture, at the bottom of each row of pins there is a number and reading from right to left (I'm guessing a bit so check) 52, 41, 24, 11. These numbers relate to the last pin number in each row. So pin 50 in your picture is the row furthest to the right and the third pin counting up or to rephrase pin 52 is bottom right, pin 51 is one up above that and pin 50 is above that.

Thank you for the information. My is Elegance. Fortunately, I have a connected plug located under the seats, ready to use. I have learned that my mother's model is SE, which does not have a connected plug, but it can be wired manually.

Here is a picture of the area under my seat.

Try do over the weekend.

Thanks. I have found the slot. I have the L&K with heated seats so there might be a plug in there somewhere.

Where have you mounted the front ones? Did you cut holes or is there an existing slot?

Kev.

I cut the holes under the far right on the driver's and far left on the passenger side, I saw this a few months ago.

If you don't have a plug under the seat, this is an option to remove the trim, make your wiring, and then reinstall the trim. Not too difficult as it looks.

Thanks. Just got to wait for the postman now.

Now it's getting dark (UK). I wasn't pleased with my footwell light, recently fitted and re-coded on my OBDII Elevean, it is too dimmed, as I thought it was also very hot when I touched it with my hand.

Does anyone suggest the best LED from eBay that is bright 360-degree white rather than ice blue, which I disliked, It is W5W bulbs.

Thanks
