Noise from exterior mirror

Featured Replies

Has anyone else had a clicking/ratchet plasticky noise when electrically folding the exterior mirrors?

Not trying to be too picky but warranty is soon to expire and don't want to pay for a new mirror. Annoyingly, it doesn't do it evey time so a visit to dealer may not show it.....

Take it in, get it done or looked at, then with a record of a fault or possible fault

you should get it fixed at a later date?

Update:- today it seems to do it when selecting reverse and the nearside one moves down to enable me to see the kerb.

You say it makes that noise when folding the mirrors, what one makes the noise and does it actually fold OK?

Nearside one makes the noise but does fold correctly. However, it continues clicking for a few seconds after fully folding.

Is it cable actuated via a remote motor like our 2008 ?.

If so, it sounds like the ribbed cable shroud may be the source.

Dealer said that mirror fault showed up their diagnostic machine so will fix under warranty.
