vRS TDI servicing?

Featured Replies

Hi all, checked the service manual but couldn't see (may be missing the obvious) any schedule for when the first and ongoing services are?

I've worked out its on a variable from the code, but my fleet company reckon its first service is 18,000 miles - that seems a little far down the line - thought it would need an initial service fairly early on?

Hmm, mine is annual give or take which is about 11-12k, 18k seems a bit long to me.

if it's variable, its 2 years or the 18k miles, give or take, which will vary depending on your driving. Some people find it hard to get their minds away from 1 yr or 12k.

Mine went in for its first service at 19,000 miles (18 month old VRS) - total cost of service £129 including vat at my local Skoda dealer

Cheers - thought it'd need a check up earlier than that

Mines through a fleet company so luckily don't need to worry about the cost - but that's a good price. Really impressed so far with it

I've had my VRS tdi for 10 months and done 10000 miles. The car told me when it needed a service. A few weeks ago. Got mine serviced at RRG Rochdale. Cracking service. Faultless.

Mine's reached 10k miles with and the variable servicing it seems a long time to wait for it's first oil change.

Mines just gone 7 weeks old & its just turned 6k miles! Be interesting when mine comes up......

You're clocking up the miles at an impressive rate!

My thoughts too. I'm sure I've had a couple of previous diesel co cars in before 10,000 miles

You can check how long until the next service in one of the cars menus.

Ouch, hopefully nothing too painful.

My mpg is around 6-8 worse off than my old 140hp Passat - that's after 1,500 miles

Yikes. Luckily I've got a company fuel card, but they'll soon be asking questions if I have to fill up twice a week!

I claim it all back at 45p/10000, 25p/25000 miles but the extra goes towards servicing, tyres, insurance, etc.... oh & effin speeding fines.......

I run my in individual mode.... basically configure it as economy (basic Air-Con, etc) but with the sport steering.

I can always stick it in sport for the twisties, but motorway munching sport is pointless....

Thats similar to me. Tried it in 'normal' for a few weeks, economy was worse - sport/vrs mode with the DSG box is just crap as it wont change up until its past 3500 revs, so its individual for me too!

DSG does hurt the economy. ON motorway mileage I can normally get 400-450 miles out of a tank.

Hmmm, thats about the same as me on a good tank!! I thought the DSG box didnt give the bad economy of the old slush box autos.... oh well, live & learn!

Whilst not as good as a manual transmission with a good driver, I don't think you can say the DSG box is terrible for fuel economy.

I'm sure its much better than the standard torque convertors of old.

The main difference to the fuel economy will be your driving style.

The pedal mapping of the vRS is very very aggressive so to get good fuel economy you have to learn to be very soft with the right foot.

I'm sure this will improve as you get used to the car & the shifting behaviour of the DSG box.

Mines a manual but I regularly get >550miles (900km) out of a normal tank.

I'm pretty sure this will also help in reducing the amount of soot you send into the DPF. Save the heavy right foot for the fun roads

If you don't drive it hard it won't get hot enough, so no passive regens. Modern diesels need to be revved.
