Only in extreme wet/damp conditions, my lovely old Octavian gives a shudder,displays diagnostic and glow plug lights,refuses to go into cruise control,and is very reluctant to restart. Garage tells me it's the crankshaft sensor,fault due to worn dual mass flywheel.I was a little sceptical,so took a chance and didn't have the work done and have driven about 7000k since with only the same recurring problem,plan to drive to UK again soon,hoping for dry weather.

NB There is no or only temporary loss of power.

They do not fail necessarily quickly - Depends how you drive (gently or not).

 

What sort of garage told you of the sensor fault?

Thanks Notts. ,no rattling,moderate driving,often longish journeys at legal speeds (just).

Checked in UK by main dealer 11 months ago. Only manifested itself 4 times since then,always when it's raining heavily.

It's like me then..........................Doesn't like 5hitty weather, Lol.
