New Octy vRS vs my modded Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

As seen in another thread, I had a new Octy vRS to play with for most of the day. It seemed only right, that my friend followed me around the test route in my own Fabia vRS - and here are the findings.

0-60 identical performance

0-100 identical performance

100 - 140 identical performance. (Octy in 5th, Fabia in sixth)

140 to vmax - Octavia crept ahead.

Handling - Octavia had the edge on high speed wet bends, as the esp2 kept it in check. Also the suspension is more supple, where my Fabia's is quite hard, and of course the nose is heavy.

Uphill test, Fabia started to reel in the Octy at 120 mph up a steep long climb.

Flippin 'eck, you have been busy today :D

So what you're saying is that the Octy had the legs on the Fabia up to 120mph?

No, what i'm saying, and this was done 3 or 4 times over the day, is that the octy, being driven by me, couldnt shake off the fabia, being driven my my mate, until 140 mph.

how did u blag it for so long?

I have a very good relationship with the dealer.

how did u blag it for so long?

Simple............Don't take it back :D

 (on the blagging thing). That said I had the vRS on a test drive for a full working day, picked up at 0730, dropped back just before 1800 :) - you must have a pretty impressive remap then Shifty, based on the airstrip thing pretty much leaving the standard vRS (Fab) behind.

Mine won't do much > 110 on the clocks, in that it gets a LOT slower to pick up more speed.

Based on the airstrip result, it wasnt a proper result. :D

so the new Octavia vRS is slower than a non vRS 1.8T Octavia 1 with a remap??

**edited in an attempt to clarify what i was going on about**

Yeah, of course!

New Octy vRS: 200bhp (and probably heavier)

Old Octy vRS with a remap: 200-230bhp

New octy needs a revo, to 250 bhp, to make it special imo.

not the Octy 1 vRS, just a remapped 1.8T with a remap

You had to mention it didn't you.]

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Harry's leather

leather was nice....

the seats in the octy were nice...but they were a bit busy for me if you know what I mean, leather, suede etc, the fabia ones are neater.

So are you buying one???

So are you buying one???

No. Very nice car, but I like mine more. It's more fun, more "lively" with the mods, and i can go at least twice as far on a gallon of fuel. 18k is alot to spend on something that doesnt just grab you if you know what I mean.

Yeah' date=' of course!

how is this relavant when he is driving a fabia?

It's relevant because I was replying to the poster directly above my post who asked about the difference between a remapped 1.8T and an Octy2 vRS.

:$

I still prefer refinment and proper air con in my quickness :P

not the Octy 1 vRS, just a remapped 1.8T with a remap

Same engine though so what Josh said still applies.

Same engine though so what Josh said still applies.

same engine, yes. but there is a difference between a standard mk1 vRS Octavia and a remaped mk1 1.8T Octavia.

:o

absolutely  and this was direct comparison between a remapped Fabia vRS and a new Octavia vRS. also helps to gauage where the new vRS really is compared to the mk1 Octavia instead of looking a numbers on paper
