Supplementary Heating...

Featured Replies

Just picked up my new vRS today.  In the menu for the climate control there there is an option for "Automatic Supplementary Heating", any idea what this is?  The manual says its "quick interior heating"...

I think that's the webasto option on cars sold with that spec. Not in the UK. Surprised it isn't configured without that on the menu.

Ah, hang on, you're over the water aren't you?

Don't know if Skoda uses it, but on some cars (without webasto heaters) there's a seperate electric heating element for the air to flow through while you're waiting for the coolant to become warm enough..

I think this is something different to the "auxiliary heater" that colder climates can spec...

Webasto and Ebers can heat both the engine block and the car interior. Maybe this is the "interior" part?

Yep it's an electrical heating element for warm air, very useful on cold winter mornings.

Part 40 here.

Nice one cheers, don't think that's even mentioned in the brochure

Ive got the Automatic Supplementary Heating option in the menu screen and its ticket, my Octavia is a UK VRS 4x4. Dont know if it does anything.

Just bought a vRS 4x4 with winter pack, which also has this automatic supplementary heating selectable on the climate controls.

Dealer wasn't sure when I picked it up, but came back to me a couple of days later to say it is fitted for quick cabin heating/ improved start up emissions.

With it being 'Summer' I haven't really noticed any difference to my previous O3 vRS, guess time will tell.

In Finland the Winter package includes Auxiliary heating (Webasto), heated wind screen and heated rear seats.

Front seats are heated as standard on all cars.

From the manual, page 107:

"The auxiliary heating heats the vehicle interior as well as the engine. For heating, fuel is consumed from the fuel tank.

The auxiliary ventilation enables fresh air to flow into the vehicle interior with the engine switched off,

whereby the interior temperature is effectively decreased (e.g. with the vehicle parked in the sun)."

If you have auxiliary heating, you should have a button for it in Climatronic and a remote controller.

I think the supplementary heating is a electrical heating element (PTC) as mentioned earlier.

Is it that time already - doesn't seem that long since we were using your first car as a VCDS guinea pig - did you go back to Lightcliffe?

I tried Lightcliffe but they've been bought out by Lookers and gone downhill with it. The sales manager thought my old one was an octavia 2! I'll never set foot in there again.

Bought the new one from Mitchell Skoda.
