Cyclic droning noise!

Featured Replies

I've got a new vRS with about 2k miles on it. Had it from new.

There's a loud droning noise between 70 and 80; worse at 75, then quieter noise at 55mph. After a 50 mile motorway trip I stopped and my ears were ringing!

The noisend repeats every second so I don't think it's wheels or bearings. Also changing into 5th or 4th the noise gets slightly quieter, but whether it's just masked by engine noise I don't know

My brother said he noticed the same noise when he took a vrs for a test drive.

Is this a normal vrs thing or should I go back to the dealership?

I don't have it myself. In the past when I've had this with other cars it's either been bearings or warped tyres. At that mileage Is imagine it's the tyres. Quite why, I wouldn't be able to guess.

I read through that post and it sounds like my noise is different. Mine comes from near the front. Towards the nearside wheel and is a constant noise at a certain speed, not road surface dependant.

Sounds exactly like the noise I had last year. Started to be noticeable around 50mph and was worst at 60ish. Checked out by Skoda dealer who confirmed it was front n/s wheel bearing. Replaced under warranty and problem was solved.
