VRS Whiteline RARB fitment

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Long time no speak and sorry to raise something which has been probably been raised thousands of times.

First things first apologies for taking so long to pop my head back on here i did create a topic listing some issues i appeared to be having. Long story short and the car is absolutely fine (Touch wood). But thanks to all for their contributions and help on the matters.

Anywho. . . I have been reading around on here as i find the handling wanting a little bit and have heard nothing but high praise for the RARB's.

I'm interested in the Whiteline just as it's the cheapest and i've heard no negatives, but i have seen conflicting info (wires may have been crossed) and i just wanted to check this would fit straight onto my car (Fabia mk2 VRS) baring in mind it's all stock. I have read that it possibly knocks against the exhaust??

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh and if anyone is selling one on the cheap please let me know! I have looked in the buying/selling section but no joy from what i've seen.

Cheers

Ben

Fitted mine at home with no problems at all. Easy DIY job and no fouling on the (standard) exhaust.

Gives a better bite at the front, better turn in and reduced understeer.

Don't forget to check the tightness of the bolts after 100 miles when you have fitted one though.

Brilliant stuff - Thank you very much guys

Furbytom - I'm not overly fussed on which one just the cheaper (without it being naff) the better. But baring in mind i'm putting the car in for a major service and 2 new tyres - i'm desperately hoping a decent second hand RARB will crop up on here so i can get it on the cheap!

Once again thanks for the help guys, i thought it would be a straight fit but it's always worth checking.

A major Service on a Mk2 Fabia vRS is no different from a Minor Service really,  Price is though...

so what is getting done, are the Spark Plugs in the price & a Pollen & Air Filter, and the Brake Fluid Change extra. (it is done at a minor service.)

If you are fitting an ARB for handling you might as well fit the better one,

save money with the Service getting it done properly for less money at a Independent Specialist and not have a Dealer send your car

to a Tyre Fitting Centre to get new tyres on unless they are offering a very special 'Much Cheapness'..

(many do just run your car to a Tyre Fitting Centre, you can do that yourself.)

Once the ARB is on and new tyres have the alignment checked and adjusted if required.

No adjustment available at the rear, but no point wasting on tyre wear with bad alignment.

Aup Goneoffski cheers for your help on my last forum post as well i do remember you.

I'm not actually taking it to a dealer for the service but a VAG Independant specialist who work out cheaper and have some solid reviews. I can't remember all what they told me but it will be fuel filter etc that's getting sorted with the major service.

With regards to tyres it'll be going to another garage that i use who are part of the blackcircles scheme.

And as i said before, i'm not overly fussed on which RARB i get i am just after one for as cheap as i can (without it obviously being a POS). So if anyone does see and hear about one being sold cheap let me know.

S73VEJ: Cheers for the input mate i did see them on there but would still like one for a bit less poundage if i can!

I was speaking to a guy at AwesomeGTI last week who recommended the H&R RARB over the Whiteline as the finish is alot better and will stay looking good for longer.

They also quoted £69 for fitting too, if you're interested in that.

Ok i'll see if i can find one of those over the whiteline ones if poss. Like i say just trying to find one for as cheap as i dare. If needs be i'll fork out for a new one but just trying my luck at the moment.

Defo not forking out extra for fitting though, i'll give it a whirl myself (I'm sure it will end up with me creating a new post saying "Please help me fit my RARB").

Appreciate all the help and input nevertheless!

Ok F*** it i'll go for the H&R once some funds free up.

However those with experience, could you comment on how easy it is to fit?

I'm guessing axle stands are required to get the back end in the air as well? Baring in mind i don't own any and i don't have the most amount of room to work with either! Eep.

H&R is easy as pie to fit with a ratchet strap.

You will need to bend it inwards slightly to get it to fit... do not fear it is supposed to be like that.

I was very confused when mine turned up and it was a good inch off fitting between the shocks. Thought i had gone and  bought the wrong one, but asked around on the FB groups and on here and everyone had the same issue.

However the H&R bar is very thick and very stiff so almost impossibly difficult to bend it by hand. Luckily I had a ratchet strap laying around anyway, but u can pick them up from Halfords or amazon for under £10.

Also you would probably would need to get the back end in the air a bit. I struggled getting under even with my axle stands, but i am a big guy.

However there are cheaper options than axle stands... suppose you could reverse up on a couple of breeze blocks   :D whatever you do just make sure its safe... or as safe as it can be.

Ahh grand cheers guys. Axle stands needed then! The ever expanding gutline will probably prevent me getting good access to the rear springs.

I shall see if the father in law/not in law has some axle stands so i can get to work on it.

Furbytom that's a cracking thread i shall be using that one. Cheers matey.

Lets see how much money the birthday skeleton brings on Monday as to how soon i can get one. . .
