  • Didnt have to remove a thing other than the fabric stuff held up by 2 stud things.   pressing the heater pipe forward really helped, put fingers in where arrows are in photo and pull lightly

  • Hi all from Downunder.  My extremely well behaved 2011 Superb 11 V6 AWD has only done 102,000 kms, as it is not my only vehicle.  Never had a fault except for a passenger seat electric control module

Hi, just a quick post to say thanks to all for posting this info here.  My Cimatronic heater blower started going intermittent about 2 weeks ago, then just died.  Had the car in for service last week and dealer wanted €660 to replace it!  Got one online, followed instructions here and saved myself €400.  All working great.  Thanks everyone!

Just saw this thread after a search.

Drove 3hrs in my 2011 superb today and the car was steaming up, no blowing from the vents. Barely a breeze.

Got home, popped back out to shop. This time fans were blowing a gale.

Seems like some intermittent issue. My car has had the fan motor replaced in past according to history. Maybe its been a dodgy connection all along.

I will investigate over Christmas

After the help in the topics earlier and the advice followed a new problem has come to light, which is that the fan doesn’t come on immediately when you want it to?

I can still get variable speed and temperature but just it can occasionally take 3-4 minutes before the fan will come on. Very frustrating at this time of year - none more so than when I had to do the 2am rush to the hospital with wife in labour on the first night there was ice inside the car!

thanks in advance

Hi - bump for ideas please?

I’ve got that going on too at the moment. Takes a couple of minutes to come on.

Coincidence or otherwise, I replaced my original fan that failed about a month ago with a new cheap item off eBay.

Thanks so much for this, just fixed the fan blower on my superb mk2 by taking it out, applying a (fair) bit of WD40 and it's working!

Truth to be told, it still takes a bit of force to rotate the fan on the unit, so replacement seems imminent.

Had a call with Skoda dealer in Cork (IE), was told it'll be 100EUR just to have a look at it (diagnostics), said I'll get back to him...

Anyway, even if it does fail, I took some pictures of the fan unit, so it should be safe to order it from eBay and replace when it dies a final death.

As I was afraid, it stopped working again :)

Looks like I need to replace the fan part, can I just take the electronic (resistor?) part from this one and order just the fan?

Hi, I have just removed my blower motor. Should it spin freely or should there be some resistance? mine barely turns.

A quick reply would be great as I have the car in bits at the moment :)

Thanks

Needs to spin freely, had the same problem and got the blower fan replaced last week.

Many thanks. I think this one is done then. It’s pretty stiff. I’ve done half a can of contact cleaner and wd40 but no improvement.

Local car shop sourced me a new one within half an hour. £115 and I fitted it all back together inabout 10 minutes. I have wind again!

anyone got a VCDS within half an hour of Bolton that can reset my airbag fault (unplugged when I removed the glovebox) because my MOT is at 4:15

pretty please!

Just would like to thank all contributors to this thread.

I too had the dreaded "fan blower no blow" syndrome and was able to fix it thanks to what's been written here. I my case the WD-40 was used to clean the terminals where the loom joins the fan assembly. I've also discovered where the big speed resistor is too; just in case that pops its clogs.

Again, many thanks for helping with what turned out to be a quick fix!  😃
