What are your plans when your finance is up on your VRS? Buy, give back or sell elsewhere?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I was just wondering what people are planning to do with their cars once the finance or what not runs out (if you have any) on the car? Are you keeping it longer term or getting rid?

I know I'm planning to buy mine off of the finance (pay the balloon payment) but not sure whether this is my best option.. I don't know what the market is like for mk2 vRS now.. I know if they release another the market will surely change..

Interested to hear what people's plans are...

Bought mine cash in 2011 - plan to keep it another year but then I only planned to keep it for two years when I bought it (until the manufacturer's warranty ran out).

Skoda won't release another Fabia vRS - not in the near future anyway. The warm super-mini is generally a young person's market and the Skoda brand doesn't appeal to young people. Even Seat, which has more appeal in that sector, doesn't appear to be shifting the new 1.8TSi Cupra - I've yet to see one.

I've not seen a Cupra either - theyre such a brilliant car too the little vRS.m

I bet you got a much better deal than I did if you paid cash!

I plan on re-financing it for the remainder of its value that I bought it for and keep it, me and my GF will only be needing 1 car when we have our own place and I don't really want to have to drive her Ford EcoSport (don't tell her that :smirk:)

I've seen... 2, yet I've seen about 50 Golf R's that are waaaaaay more expensive, in-fact I've seen more of the R's than the newer shape GTI's, I don't get it.

I think from reading one of Keith's threads in General Car Chat there were some cracking contract deals to be had on the R when it first came out. It's the same in Glasgow - I see Rs everywhere and the current GTi is a rarity.

actually the same round here - my father in law has an R and I see so many. I asked him what he thought and he said the deal he got was only about another 40 quid a month into the gti price so was a no brainier for him.

I did think about re financing mine.. I don't know what to do.. I'm not sure if they're going to hold their value or?

Them little eco sports can be quite nippy can't they?? Still I see your point!!

It's surprising how swift that big thing is for a tiny little 1L engine, though 1 strange thing whenever you floor it to pull away it sounds almost like an airship preparing to take off.

The funniest thing though it's an 'EcoBoost' engine but it only returns a few MPG more than my vRS :giggle:

Must've been 1 hell of a deal then for a £33,000 golf, same price as the new Focus RS and I know which one I'd prefer :drunk:

Haha sounds like an airship - brilliant. Bad about the mileage though.. What mpg does your vRS return?? I think the mpg rates may have an impact on what people end up doing with their vRS at the end of their contracts etc....

No idea what we are going to do with ours. It's currently on a 0% PCP with about 10 months left to run. Quite tempted to pay it off (at end of term) and keep the thing, especially now I've put effort into getting it how I like it with the wheels/tyres and springs/RARB. We are also considering changing for something else maybe at the end of this year if there is a deal going on something that takes our fancy. A lot depends on how its value holds with that tho. If we fancy a change and its in neg equity then we'd either VT it or wait until next year and hand it back. Decisions decisions....

On a long-ish trip say 30-40 miles I could easily get 48+mpg (around 52mpg on a very good run) and I get roughly 400 miles out of a tank of Momentum which is a big plus for me to want to keep it.

I don't have a VRS but my Monte is up on HP in 3 months and its mine. Cannot wait to change it for something quicker. Had it since new, so 4 years coming up! Never had a bit of bother with it. I was looking at changing to a Octavia VRS MK3, but worried about the fuel economy with the TSI engine. Would love the 2.0TSI but I think the TDI would be a more sensible choice.

Im on the same deal, what do you think yours will be worth end of term? I think my buy back is 5700 (thinking it'd have 52k miles on which it most surely won't). Have thought about the buy back but I agree - a lot will depend on what it's worth.. CAP values are quite low, but not sure whether they're right as the market is never flooded with vRS's.

I think the TDI is quit quick isn't it?? HP was such an expensive option for me I couldn't afford to do it, no apologies I should have said what are you doing with your Fabia at the end of your contract - I just put vRS as that's what I've got. A new Octavia vRS sounds tasty though!!

Have to say I've never returned more than 350 on a tank of Tesco's finest.. 400 is brilliant!! But my usual run isn't long, 10 miles all country lanes..

Most times when I top up with 99 from almost empty it'll show about 440-450 miles left but I've never had that much out of it lol, probably due to some lead-footing on occasions :notme:

Haha I think we are all guilty of the old lead footing. Thanks for the replies guys - I just found out I'm still in negativity equity after 2 years.. Wonderful

It's almost impossible to resist temptation in a twin charger - I still feel it quite addictive five years on  . As my mileage is low gave up bothering about mpg long ago.

Tell me about it lol my GF hates it when I floor it, I love it though after I do so many miles of being conservative on the fuel and then just letting it rip I almost forget how bloody quick it is I look down and "whoopsy" doing 120 :giggle:

This is so true haha

I wonder what the members car is now worth that came here and was moaning after having paid over £23,000 for it with all the options added.

Look on their own Website description.

'Brilliant Sporty Blue' Estate.  (this one shows a 7 second 0-60, so thats like the 7.3 / 0-62)  Manual Air Conditioning / Swing Radio l!!

Or is there Sat Nav?

Fastest Colour, most expensive, or typo adding £10,000.

Without the extra £10,000 on will get it to about how much you could get one for late 2014 early 2015.

I remember someone posting pictures of a last of the line VRS that his elderly mother had paid the thick end of £20k for with all the options included, that was going to be used as a 40 mile a week shopping trolley......probably lost about £12k on it in two years.

You are right, i think i was getting mixed up and getting carried away with how much was paid.

(I do remember someone paying a crazy price on an estate, but it was not Blue, not even Sporty Blue!)

I can not remember the member name whos mother bought the Brand New Factory Build with all the bits, vrskeith might though.

It was not cheap.

Then this.

Yes that was a nasty one as well, although I think all of us have been ripped off by a dealer at least once as you learn the hard way....

HUMPH! Just spotted that '64 plate has the nice little "vRS" at the bottom of the S/W yet my '13 plate does not, slightly annoying as I didn't think the Fabia's got that since mine is a newer CTHE model as well... anyway to retrofit it or am I just SoL?

My vrs has the vrs badge on the steering wheel (I thought all cthe ones had it)
