Nice Mk2 you have there in the background

KjetilRos, are they factory 18" Gemini wheels in black?

Yes.

Thanks. I've owned it since 1997. Built by me. Also have an 1600 sport. Owned it since 1993.

It's quite hard to get a hold of those gemini's :(

Anyone have any recommendations for snowchains to fit the 18" Gemini factory alloys (225/40 x R18 tyres) on a 4x4 vRS? The handbook only details 17" wheels. Hopefully with 4x4 drive & Conti 850P's I'll never need them but their a legal requirement in the Alps.

i bought some michelin easygrip chains - they are certified like chains but won;t scratch your wheels. Not had to use them yet.

Thanks. I had some of those for my old Octavia but sold them with the wheels & couldn't remember the make/name etc.

I fitted some 17" Dezent TD wheels in graphite for the winter.

As above they are tight on clearance to the 340mm calipers but its fine with the low-profile balance weights.

Don't know about tyre fitting in Switzerland but my Local tyre place can do a F6 Balance where all the wieghts are on the right of the wheel ( Inside edge )

well away from the brake callipers

Try this German web site for your wheels, www.felgenoutlet.de. Used this site last year for 17 inch alloys for my vrs. Lots of choices and large price range. Option to choose your language and you get the TUV certificate which states the wheels are fit for your car. I bought Autec Baltic 17 inch wheels just for winter use on my diesel VRS last December
