Failed Clutch and great dealer assistance

Car returned yesterday and all covered by Warrantywise with a contribution from Skoda. Very glad I took out the warranty with them as the Skoda extended warranty which I looked at seemed to have lost some of the cover - breakdown etc. A big thanks to Henrys Skoda for their superb service and the loan car.

Great to hear it's all sorted. Nice to hear a positive experience.

When I bought my Octavia as approved used the 1 year warranty was through warranty wise.

They were very good had had a new starter motor, ignition switch, ignition barrel and even handbrake trim (which is usually not covered) all approved and paid for by them.

Good dealers should get the praise they deserve, well done and good to hear.

Ryeman,

Throughout life I have found that people are happy to shout from the rooftops about a bad experience yet they keep their cards close to their chest when it comes to praise.

That is especially true for the motor trade which it would seem - is incredibly thankless and unrewarding! unless of course - you work in sales.

I've had dealings with numerous dealerships out here and they've all be thoroughly professional and gone to great lengths to give you confidence in them.

I've been amazed at the seeming disparity between various Skoda dealers in the U.K. and I don't know how they survive .

As a general rule of thumb there are only two causes for early or premature DMF / clutch failure.

1) Manufacturing defect.

2) The driver.

GG - Will you be noting this in the 'Dealership' section of the forum?  (Or have you already done it?  )

Not yet but will do. Thanks for the reminder.

1) Manufacturing defect.

2) The driver.

injector issues (blocked, low pressure etc)

compression problems (uneven between cylinders)

front end drive line vibration (failed crank damper)

basically anything that can increase the torsional vibration in the crankshaft by affecting it's rotation can wear a DMF out early - most common reason though is driver abuse though. Not in this guys case though, the spring in the Sachs clutch cover failed - quite common with that particular brand on VW's
