Who runs on LPG?

Featured Replies

Ive been running on LPG (bi fuel) the past week. How much do you pay a litre?

Between 42.9p and 45.9p a litre at the moment

i love filling up at less than £20!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it i filled up today for the first time £13.00 Thats at 44p a litre, the place that did the conversion sells it for 33p a litre.

well if you buy it in the big orange cylinders and buy a transfer pump it works out at 23p a litre

and if your lucky enough to have a LPG heating system at home its even cheaper to buy it in bulk, less the 19p a litre.

of course you'd have to send your cheque off to the Treasury for the duty!!!! LOL

So have you converted your car or have you bought a car that was already converted?

Once i get sell the Boxster whatever car i buy next will be getting converted unless i'm lucky enough to find the right car converted already.

the mileage i do a year makes it worth while,i do nearly 25K a year and thats just getting to work and around living my life.

how much did that cost then? how u getting on with it?

Between 42.9p and 45.9p a litre at the moment

who did your conversion? does it work with a remap?

All works fine with my Re-map,FMIC,CAI,Samco TIP and full exhaust system.

i have a 60 litre tank where the spare wheel would be which when full has approx 48 litres of LPG in it.

This is due to the fact that you can only fill the tanks up to 80% of there volume to allow for expansion.

i get between 220-240 miles to a tank dependant on how i've been driving, usually the lower figure i will say as i drive A roads to and from work and like to push on a bit!!!!!

The tank at 42.9p a litre costs between £19-£20 to fill up.

When a full tank of petrol in the Octy costs £48-£50 and i was only getting between 310-330 miles out of a tank it is saving me alot of money.

i had my conversion done by a guy in High Wycombe, very good conversion, really knew his stuff.

cost £1400,a work collegue has had a quote to convert in Leon Cupra R for £1250 which is a very good price.

what sort of conversion make/model did you go for? performance still the same as with 95/98 ron?

I've got a Bi-gas Sequential Injection System.

And performance isn't quite as good as on petrol i will admit, its not quite as punchy as Optimax but on normal everyday driving you hardly notice it.

if i want to have a harder drive i just switch it back to petrol but it breaks my heart when i put petrol in it as its so expensive!!!!!

when i do trackdays etc always run it on Optimax but otherwise can still have fun and normally run around with my Jabba Boost controller on its lowest setting as my drive to work is usual hindered by loads of other cars.

have you got any pics? this might stop from going to the dark side and getting a fabia vRS...

Is it still possible to get government grants for converting to LPG?

Is it still possible to get government grants for converting to LPG?

not anymore, octy wouldn't get one anyway...

Converting to LPG has cut my weekly fuel bill in half, that's £30 a week! The cost of the conversion will almost be paid for in a year, even though the MPG is worse by 20%.

Has anyone else running on LPG noticed a drop in MPG? Skoda or not?

BTW it isn't the Octy we have on LPG

Yes your right it isn't as ecomomical as petrol, only get 210-225 miles out of a full tank of LPG,works out at approx £19 to fill up.

But was only getting 310-330 miles out of a full tank of petrol which was costing £48-£50 so am saving quite a lot of money especially as the Octy does alot of mileage between myself and my brother.

Its 2 years 5 months old and has already covered 67,500 miles.

As stated above the conversion will pay for itself in under a year.

Rough bit of mental arithmetic, I reckon that is about the same as 48 mpg of unleaded. Impressive.
