Has anybody on here put a deposit on a Tesla 3 ?

Almost did two weeks ago. Very tempting. Even though you can get it back later I decided not to at the end. Even so I'm almost certain I'll go for Tesla when the time comes to change the Fabia. Too bad its not even a year old yet...

Nick P did when the order books opened.

I am considering convincing my parents into buying used model S with life time free supercharger.

Yesterday I finaly got to ride one it was amazing the punch in the S85 was sick!

Yes, I have a deposit on one! Probably arrive in 2019 though!

I did think about it but when I asked them to confirm that the 215 miles of range per charge was guaranteed they hmm'ed and ahmmed and said it was all dependent upon a number of factors.

Yawn......heard that before when Skoda told me the combined fuel economy of the 184bhp diesel was 61mpg and I couldn't ever exceed 43mpg.

I suspect the 215 mile range is probably closer to 140 (assuming you don't use the radio, satnav, aircon, headlights etc etc).......and it's a critical number when you don't have the option of simply pulling into the nearest fuel station and spending 5 minutes filling up.

Sorry not if you paid me looks dull a F....? Not for me. Have they lazily remade a slightly more stylish Ford Puma ?

Despite the badge ( anyway I now own an old MGF hahah well it was free......and anyway people in greenhouses shouldn't throw stones driving Skoda lol )

this seems FAR more exciting and price hopefully shouldn't be much different ?

With respect, 3 years is a long time in motor car production; I suspect all of the major manufacturers (particularly given the demise of diesels) will have something to rival that by 2020.

Not sure I like the central screen, other than that it does look promising.... even SWMBO like it in red

But will they ? Before production comes concepts, so they will have to have concepts for future cars. At least MG is boldly putting forward a concept meeting real production car.

I doubt any major manufacturers would have anything quite as bold as that and suddenly pull out their sleeves - it has to go through concept first. Do they have any such concepts as bold as MG in that kind of price range ? I'm not sure as I haven't had my ear to the ground that much but haven't see any news for anything quite like the MG recently.

Weighing it up personally- I stand by my suggestion its worth waiting for this kind of car:

Emotion:

looks more stylish to me than the Tesla hands down ( this one has actually styling that excites me, the Tesla looks like its fresh from a board/bored meeting)

"0-62mph in less than 4.0sec. It has a range of over 310 miles."

30K ish price est

Tesla:

Puma "revamp" styling

est. 0-60 ~6 secs

est range 215 miles

Maybe 30-35K ish est

I'm getting the feeling this is more the bargain basement Tesla and the MG offers far better VFM ( as well as supercar styling!)

So if you had that kind of money and in no rush to spend it over 3 years or so ? I know what I'd do personally !

Its a no brainer for me if it was a case of one over another, the MG every time even having to wait 3 years for it is no matter.

I could actually see it as a realistic option

Not that I am in a market for such a car anyway so wouldn't want one even if they could make it in 2017 ( still have my 2014 petrol vRS) but 3 years down the road ? Who knows.

I thought about it as had a model S at the time.

But the car was let down by quality issues so I decided against it.

It just can;t stand up to the wear and tear of every day life with kids like an Octavia or Yeti can.

Plus it's apparently a saloon (or was at the time) which is no good for me at all.

Richard what were the quality issues on yours?

I must admit i remember you saying saying it wasn't brilliant and that could be a big issue for me... I certainly wouldn't order one blind.

What is the warranty on it.Ref BossFox's comments above and his experience and maybe longevity issue / quality - fit and finish on Tesla's products?

Yes door handles do broke and there's som other things. That's why model 3 is getting new simpler door handles. While your in warranty your ok. Later it depends on Tesla kindness.
Tesla is a pricey car. But through time it is getting better. My idea was buying used on only to ravel through Europe for free and sell it after a year. But by 2020 we will have either hybrid or plug-in hybrid Octavia or fully electric Octavia. And other Skoda models. So well see.

Well done octaviusthethird.

Well I have too, I have just read my thread, The Tesla 3 is about to hit the Highway, I doubt the streets will be till 2018 but its not a concept anymore and I don't see any competition at the price. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

I for one can't wait.

I would love it to be the new Skoda but I cant wait that long.
