Xenon conversion H7 high beam

Featured Replies

Has anyone done this to their Facelifted superb? I bought a HID kit but it seems like the locking clip needs to be changed to something like this:

But it even seems like the xenon bulbs won't fit since the plastic housing cover will hit the lamp? Has anyone done this and give some pointers please :)

I wouldn't bother, HID kits take a while to get to full brightness and don't like been regularly cycled. You'll probably also get a bulb out warning.

If you really need extra light for your high beams, I'd suggest adding some extra lighting like quality LED light bars :)

As langers2k says, HID units are not suited to main beam use.  They take maybe 10 or 20 seconds to reach full brightness and the correct colour.

Main beams are not often lit for long, they are frequently turned on and off, and are used for flashing.

HID is fine for dipped beam which is left on for an extended period of time, so the 'warm up' phase is not so much of a disadvantage.

If you need improved main beam performance, consider the latest Osram Nightbreaker H7 bulbs or the Philips uprated H7 bulbs.  Either of these will offer better main beam performance, and using a relay to power them directly from the battery will help a bit more.

It's also worth checking that your headlights are correctly aimed.

Think he means low beam, high beam uses a different bulb type, getting hids fitted tomorrow with resistores

No I actually meant high beam and I'm going to use speed starter HID which light up full effect in 2-3 sec.

Ordered the H7 light bulb locking clips and will give it a go sometime after christmas :)

The facelift with Bi-Xenon uses H7.

The facelift with Bi-Xenon uses H7.

If its bi-xenon then it already uses the xenon lamp for the high beam too? Which means its not H7.

GAH.

The 2014 Facelifted modell with Bi-Xenon uses D3S light bulbs in the low beam and H7 halogens in the high beam, the D3S assist the high beam hence the "BI-XENON", ok, comprende, capische?

Why does every single post in this forum always escalate into a besserwisser-argumentation discussion?

I did not know that, thankyou :)

Please let us know how the fast start H7 HID bulbs perform.
