Hi there

Mine was done when it went in for a service, they just told me they had done it.  Is this supposed to come with an extended warranty on the car after it is done?  On my invoice it says "Notes for customer:  23R6 emissions software update has been carried out today under SKODA warranty"

The 1.6 requires a "flow rectifier" fitting before the MAF and a software update.

  • I reiterate;   My local dealer is Hayseldens of Doncaster and I was told it is a software update ONLY.  I said I had heard that there was to be some kind of air flow device fitted and was told  that t

Not supposed to be carried out without your permission.

So you had best have the Principal Dealer have the paperwork sent to you with your permission given, not just permission to service the car,

and the VW Group information on the 24 month piece of mind guarantee.

The Skoda Warranty to stay valid did not require you to have 'The Fix' if you own the car.

Ok, I don't know anything about the 24mth piece of mind guarantee.  They just handed the car back and it was on the list of things they did.  I'm not really sure what the outcome is I am aiming for in asking for the paperwork for permission to do the change?  They did a lot of free work on the car, wheel bearing, bushings, 4 new tyres...  I complained like a mofo about it and gave them the option of fix it or I reject it.

I may have a snoop and see if this flow rectifier is on the intake actually (1.6tdi)

Carrying out warranty repairs they should do.

The Fix is not a warranty repair though, just to benefit VW / Skoda not you.

But if you are happy then no harm done, hopefully no ill affect on your car, but if there is then Skoda / VW will have to be responsible for that,

so maybe get that in writing.

Same situation as you my friend. Went for a service, came out with the fix without permission but they gave me a piece of paper with 24 months warranty on EGR injector or DPF. Hated my car so much after that, i had to have a remap done. I rang skoda to tell them i didn't allow the fix to be carried out but they just said sorry and that's it. After this incident i'll never buy a VAG car again. Good luck!

P.S. it's all in the software, the mesh in the intake doesn't do anything, it might benefit the MAF to read the air better.

You are not alone. VAG group franchises have been applying the update without informed consent and sometimes surreptitiously when cars go in for other things, not just servicing. You should tell your MP and continue to complain to Skoda HQ. The Department of Transport have also asked to be informed of these cases, so you should tell them at [email protected]  Some owners have received 500 quid payments or shopping vouchers after complaining and a small number have demanded to have the car be replaced with an unfixed one or similar petrol equivalent. The Facebook closed group, The Volkswagen Diesel Customer Forum (Emissions Scandal), shows what others are trying to do to get recompense, see the pinned top post, question 16 in the FB group. Do not let them get away with it.

I think we are referring ourselves in circles, I've been part of the group for a while now. I have complained, its down to the dealership to give you vouchers etc, not VW. They are just scumbags

See my post to Bertie90. There is probably no way they can reverse it. There is now a password controlled locking routine in the software flashing that prevents a return to earlier versions. One owner on the FB group, Ian Rawlinson managed to get an independent to circumvent it.

Gosh!,

how very very strange,

'cos when I spoke to a Skoda sales person on Monday, at a Belfast dealership,

he was quite adamant that Skoda had, in respect of dieselgate;

 (I) fessed up straight off

(ii) done nowt underhand

(iii) did not take orders from the VAG

etc

etc

etc,

etc

etc

etc

Surprised I was not blinded by the glare from his halo actually.

a pleasant bloke to talk to, but an absolute fornicating liar, well, hey!, I suppose being a VAG employed car salesperson, what else is to be  expected.

EDIT

To add, I have not, in the past 2 plus years, nor will not, let my 1.6TDI back near a Skoda dealership again.

Makes it a hellava good time to buy a VAG diesel mind, as I rub my hands with glee, and I actually like the Koadiaq
