Resetting computer after service

My local garage in France (a Renault franchise) has just done a minor service on my Yeti, but they were unable to reset the computer, which is still warning that a service is due (the car is on a fixed service régime.)  The mechanic reckons that it's probably because they don't have dedicated VAG/Skoda diagnostic stuff, but says a colleague who's a bit more technically savvy will have a look next week.

I thought it would be worth asking whether anyone here knows a way to reset the system, either for the owner or for the garage to have a go....

Any info/thoughts very welcome!

Thanks

SOLVED!

Many thanks to graham47 for suggesting the b****ing obvious!

The mechanic assured me that there was no way he could do it via the MFD thing, even though the chosen language for everything is French.

To be fair, it did take a little bit of digging, but it's very simple and now done!

Thanks very much again, Graham

This was posted a couple of years ago on another Skoda site:

To reset the service interval display, after a service has been carried out.

While the car ignition is turned off, press the 0.0 button and while pressing you have to turn on the ignition, but not the engine.

After that you release the 0.0 button and press the MIN button, which is at the left of the wheel ( the button used to adjust the time).

Then you turn off the key and release the MIN button and that's it the service interval displace is changed.

I think from past threads on here, that resetting with the Maxidot display it doesn't fully reset the "system". A full reset has to be done via the OBD plug.

I didn't know that (and can't find the thread). Any idea what the difference between the two is?

Err?

Yeti's don't have a "min" button to adjust the time. That is done through the MFD display.

Well my Yeti has (pre F/L)!

I find it is quicker to adjust the clock using these buttons than by using the MFD display...

Buttons 3 & 7 in the picture attached.

It was quite a time ago, sorry.

I know when it was missed on my old car the dealer told me to bringing it back so they could plug it in, so perhaps it is so that the manufacturers system knows it has been done, and that any "up-grades" have been done. I'm sure there was something internal that wasn't done, either.

Gosh!  Thanks for all the additional replies!

In fact, the Renault garage nearest to us is exceptional for the courtesy - nay, real friendliness - of all its staff, who go out of their way to help and are (as far as I can tell) utterly honest;  these are not necessarily the qualities one most often finds in French garages!

Many thanks for the recommendation of a specialist in Thouars:  although we're further south (near Lezay), this would not be far off are usual tracks.  It will seem a bit wimpish, but one (not the only one) of the reasons for avoiding the main franchise (in Poitiers) is my doubt that they will actually heed my telling them NOT to do the emissions modification, which I see no reason for.

Incidentally, I've got another query, which may well be linked with the computer-reset problem yesterday, but I'll post that separately shortly.

A massive thank you to all who have (once again) provided such a range of helpful information.

Dear Graham, Your apology is accepted.

Thanks MuddyJim, The photo you provided provides the clarity required for my posting.

Interestingly, my father has just self-serviced his 1.2 Yeti, and reset the service interval from the MFD.

However, if you're on variable servicing, I believe resetting via the MFD switches back to fixed intervals ? Certainly seems to have done that on his.

Hoping to have a look at it this weekend with VCDS, to see how I can get it back to variable intervals.

That's correct. You'll need VCDS (or a visit to a garage) to get it put back onto variable service intervals.

Interesting!

On my old (2010) Yeti pressing the left hand button did nothing at all.

The only way to adjust the clock was with the Maxidot display.

Not checked on the new one.

Been to Frome and back today, and tried pressing the left button, and indeed it now highlights the hours and minutes.

But how do you correct the time?

Strange.................  - The buttons work on mine - but I've never been to Frome in my Yeti; perhaps the PO did  :peek:

Ah. There's the problem Jim, you've never been to Frome!!

Not sure I really wanted to, but son fell off his motorbike last weekend and broke his wrist, and had arranged to come up to us this weekend with his children he has every other weekend for a "pre christmas Christmas". Now got to drive them back as well!!
