Light sensor sensibility adaption?

Featured Replies

I'm quite new to this forum.

I've the new owner of a 2014 Skoda Octavia Combi 2.0 TDI 4x4 6M.

The car is equipped with LED DRLs and a Rain Light Recognition Sensor.

Currently my LED DRLs works as DRL when the light switch is in position "0".

At the same time my navigation screen is in daylight mode.

As soon as I turn the light switch into "Auto" my DRLs dimmes to approx 25% and my low beams comes on.
The navigations screen turns to night mode.

Despite the fact I'm living in Norway and we are fairly close to the darkest time of the year I would expect my DRLs to light up, my low beams to turn off and the navigation screen to turn into daylight mode in the middle of the day.

I've been searching and testing several different settings to no avail.

What am I missing?

Below is my scan of the 09 Central elec:

Thanks in advance for any advice!

It is very sensitive. Even in the middle of the summer in Northern Norway its still lights up the Xenons from time to time.

In the car configuration section of the infotainment on my 2016 Superb under lighting, there is an option for early, normal, or late turning on of the lights. If your car has the same thing, perhaps it is set to "early"?

There are two adaptions (near the bottom) in Cent Elect:

ENG122932-ENG123007-RLS_Night_Sensitivity-p_lx_rs_dawn,100 lx

ENG122932-ENG123006-RLS_Night_Sensitivity-p_lx_rs_day,200 lx

I havent tried to change this yet.

the early / medium / late setting also appears to affect the auto high beam on my car. I'd turned auto off, and I'm wondering if there's a temperature assumption somewhere.... when it's below zero the dipped beam appears to be on all the time. Which is not necessary....

I found both of these settings but displays the following ERROR: Channel Not Available

The car states it has a light sensor installed?

After some excessive reading and testing of numerous different settings I have come to a conclusion.

There is nothing wrong with the Auto-function of my car. There's just not enough light to get it to work as expected not even at noon.

So much for living in the western part of Norway.
I have discovered that some models has the possibility to alter the sensitivity of the light sensor but not my car.

Did have some bright daylight for the first time this year today. Actually for the first time in a very long time.

Went outside to test the lights.

Started up the car and the DRLs and only the DRLs lit up. When I laid my palm over the sensor in the windscreen it didn't take long before the dipped beams lit. Removed my palm form the sensor and after a few seconds the dipped beam turned off and the DRLs came back in full strenght.

I hate to admit it but it seems that my sensor is working as expected. I should only wish it was possible to tweak the sensitivity a bit.

An upside is that I can leave out the diagnosis of the light sensor when leaving the car for service in 3 weeks time. Approx £75 saved on the bill.

A "work around" until a more permanent solution is found is to set the light switch to "0" when I want only the DRLs to be lit and not the dipped beams.

Misses out on the auto function but still.

Will have to read, search and dig for some further information regarding the sensibility of the light sensor.

And I wonder if I should replace the light bulbs in my fog lights to something that matches the DRLs and Bi-xenon and reprogram the DRLs to be over the fog lights?
