E.C.P. prices

Featured Replies

Is it my imagination, or have ECP prices shot through the roof in the last month or two? Even with the hefty discount offered by using the codes, prices have shot up. They've swung from being ridiculously cheap to being pricey.

I fitted new Brembo discs and pads on the Scout's front end about 10 weeks ago for very little money compared with what they are asking now, and their oils are outrageous even when discounted.

Any other views on this? Can't believe Brexit has stuffed us up this soon!!

And why is VAG spec 5-30 more expensive than, say, Ford's spec 5-30??  I'm getting 4 litres of Q8 VAG spec for less than £18 up here in the Highlands, but go to Halfords, and similar VAG spec Petronas is twice as expensive.

I agree it seems to have rocketed recently for some reason and like you I noticed the oil is crazy expensive.

Oil has always been crazy expensive at ECP and GSF. Also they seem to only stock either their own dubious brand (crazy expensive) or something like mobil (make appointment to see bank manager expensive).

Shop around, even some dealers (not mine) are surprisingly good on oil prices. A couple of dealers sell Quantum oil on ebay at good prices.

I think ECP are now owned by a dutch company. Maybe that crazed dutch brexit negoiator has something to do with it. Shouldnt last long when a bucketload of customers shop around and leave them without much business.

I needed a battery for the Octavia a couple of weeks ago and went to ECP first.  Even after applying the 30% discount code they were more expensive than other choices on the 'net.  It seems that they have bumped the prices so that they can offer a massive discount but still manage to be quite pricey on a lot of things.

Always an emergency-only option for me (there's one round the corner from where I work, so it's handy, I just find their online parts look-up-by-registration number so pathetic I try not to use them).

Its to pay for their recent tv advertising campaign...

Seen on quest/dave etc on sky.

First time i saw one, i was waiting for then " then my engine exploded".. always use a bmw service centre blahblah as thats what the lady was driving

I am amazed that you are amazed that prices have shot up as they were due to the fall in the pound post BREXIT.  Almost all car prices and car parts rises are indexing up at least a couple of percent per quarter as they now have to take account of the 15% or so fall in the pound against the Euro.  It looks like following a similar pattern to the economic crisis in 2009/10 and they will not raise prices all in one go but index them up quarterly or even monthly if it is PCP.   I am still getting regular offers of 32% or so part discounts form Euros parts, and there will be "deals" on cars ie 0% APR and that but it will be on higher base prices.  For some reasons car production, and car parts production, has been in Euros for many years, almost as much as the Euro has been around, even for prices of parts used in the UK.  One of the Uk car manufacturers even wanted to link their UK worker bonues, wage rises in Euros as it so key to costs and profitability.   83%of the cars we buy are imported.

  •  Car makers roll out 'first wave' of price rises as they face higher costs after pound's slump
  • Ford Fiesta costs £200 more as of last month
  • Cost of Peugeot and Citroen cars pushed up by 2 per cent in August
  • Vauxhall Astra is now £470 more after maker put up prices this month
  • Japanese brands Honda and Nissan are hiking prices by an average of 0.9 per cent and 1.5 respectively this month, while Suzuki will bump up the cost of some of its cars by 2 per cent.

My trade account with euros turns out to be more expensive in most cases than their website for click and collect. Absolutely ridiculous.

I've just priced up an oil, air, fuel and pollen filter for my Superb.

Prices after applying the current 32% discount are almost identical to when I last bought 6 months or so ago?

I never buy my oil from them anyway. Quantum Long Life VW 507.00 can still be had on eBay from a few Audi dealers for around £25 for 5 litres.

Quantum longlife can be had for 19 quid for 5 litres from parks motor group via eBay. Bargain that is.

Exactly what I bought in January for my last service and cost £74.00 would now come to £90.00. All of that extra is the oil (Mobil1 ESP 5w30)gone from £58.00 before discount to £75.00.

Quick Google and I can get it from Opie Oils for £35 plus shipping.

People are easily fooled by the sound of good discounts and often do catch that the base price has sky rocketed.  Only when you know the prices what it was 6/12 months ago do you start to appreciate the world largely works in U dollars with a sprinkling of Euros, Renminbi and Yen.

:hi: where you been hiding??

They don't really have much in the way of competition any more now they've bought up most of the other factors.

ADSA (Walmart) a Dollar wise type company sell some lovely Engine Oils to suit the spec of many types of engines at rather good prices.

This will be Professional Produced Synthetic & Semi Synthetic Oils that are not just some rubbish that might or might not suit the vehicles it is specced for.

As to the Sterling, Euro, Dollar, Yen, Forent, Krone, Shekel etc exchange rates and world markets, someone from Taiwan, China, Japan, Ireland or the likes with

reasonably priced Consumables and spares if they are not already.

Plenty hooky crap comes in anyway, and the real stuff is not that expensive in the first place, well other than at a Main Dealers Parts Desk, and not always then.

I've been here there and everywhere... back in a Skoda again now though

The parent company is actually American, LKQ, although the original founder is still on the board.

For some things they are quite reasonable, eg headlight bulbs. Most are cheaper than Powerbulbs, however on other items they are way too expensive. Who would pay £170 for a battery? :o http://www.eurocarparts.com -  Bosch S5 Even with the discount at £115 you can buy it cheaper elsewhere.

I've not used them but some people use http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/ It looks very similar to ECP.
