Buzzing and Dealership

Featured Replies

I must give a big up here while Skoda UK Customer Services Communication Managers are reading this.

Great service received at the Service Desk & with the Work Shop Employees / Master Tech @ Skoda Specialist Cars Dundee. (John Clark Group.)

A special mention goes to Kyle on the  Service desk, he might be quite new, but he is rather good at customer services.

  • Well done for asking for advice I say.We all make mistakes.

  • OK. I spoke with Ashley, at Winchester Skoda today. The £80 charge has been refunded and the car is booked in for two days in early Jan to look at the buzz again.    I have to say that I've had noth

  • sounds like a lie to cover up a rip off. now you have questioned it they are back tracking.   personally id take the refund and go elsewhere as they obviously cant be trusted,

I have had at least 10 visits to my dealer (not counting services) for faults and niggles which all were covered under warranty. Even the 2000rpm buzzing was checked over and solved. I have never paid a thing for any 'checks' nor would I.

What I have noticed is the quality of service my dealer now offers me after 2 1/2 years is waining. The courtesy car is chargeable for CDW and my car was washed with what I can only describe as sewer water and a brillo pad but hey they all know the paint work on my car was ****e so why bother wasting clean water on it! ;-)

Yeah I had the courtesy car CDW charge also.

£500 excess or £12 to reduce to £50.

I took the risk.

My car I already pay monthly for was in for warranty work, I've already got to replace the fuel used, not paying for insurance also.

Nice little earner that.....they dont dream of charging that for test drives.

I have buzzing from 2250 to 2500 rpm. Exactly and only in that range.

I have filing that is coming behind dashboard.

Any help?

You've got the option of ringing your own insurance company to cover you, though I guess it's dependent on the Insurer if they charge an admin fee to get you covered on a Courtesy car, so might not be viable. I've always signed the £10 excess waiver, but I've never actually been charged it on return (please no, 'That's because they rip you off for other things'  :notme: )

A car is in for Warranty work,

call Skoda UK Customer Services, have them arrange a courtesy car under the warranty at no cost or they can pay the Dealership their charges.

Its just all a Golden Goose and a game for many, if that dealership wants Warranty Work and to charge for cars have Skoda UK get some other place to do the work,

collect your vehicle and drop off another.

Exactly. ..if you already paying finance to VWFS for the car..why should you be without it for a day due to a warranty defect. ..and then have to pay for a courtesy car.

I argued that when I was without my car for virtually a month when it was being resprayed. I was given an octavia courtesy car for the duration. It was that or my PCP payments ceased until the car was fixed and returned. People listen when cessation of payment is mentioned.

I haven't had mine resolved yet, so can't give you an answer from my perspective. My rev range issue is pretty much the same as yours, but I'm getting the buzz from around the B Pillar. Some people who have had similar issues have found it's a rattling fuel line underneath the car, however, other reasons are available! I'll post on this thread as and when my issue has been resolved!

Thanks.

If I find solutions I'll post here also.

Same here! I am going in for the car's six week check up on the 28th, so will mention it then. I will let you know what I find out.

My buzzing that is consistent with everyone else's description has still not been fixed.

Actually, I have quite a few issues and I am frustrated that after 7 returns to a dealership (last of them to a different one) not a single one of the issues I am reporting has been fixed.

The next thing is me travelling 177km away to the importer that has committed to solving the issues...

I am A BIT annoyed.

I am in same circumstances, but my rattles around gear change have not been present when the car was new, so the conclusion is that the car is only falling apart and it will not get better over time :D

Fuel lines have been checked.

And locating a rattle is often times impossible (unless sunglasses or similar are the culprit).

my B pillar buzzes when certain frequencies are played on the stereo when turned up moderately, most annoying! never had any issues with the better built mk2 I have previously..

the other poor quality part of the car is the rear bumper, I'm sure it's only held on with Blutac lol, love the car though and can live with it..

There is no garrentee any garage will take any buzzing or rattle seriouly as a warrenty claim, unless its very obvious or particualy loud. Basicaly any garage is not going to pay full economic cost for a mechanic to rip apart dashboards door cards or whatever, risk damaging them. More importantly they have to internaly justify the warrenty repair so the fault has to be repeatable. And the other issue is do you want a junior mechanic riping your car to bits, there going to put there more senior experienced guys on somthing more inportant.

Every visit for warranty with courtesy cars provided by Ford, Skoda and VW main dealers, I have never had to pay a bean. Had some courtesy cars a good few times at all of the above too, whilst trying to resolve issues numerous times.

With an intermittent knocking on my Golf R the VW garage had the rear seats out and sent 2 technicians out one in the back with a full acoustic microphone system until they found the cause! No question of not being a warranty problem whatsoever :)

That's how seriously they took it and sent me all the recordings via email for me to confirm if it was the same knocking!

I recently cancelled a solo test drive, after turning up at the dealership due to exorbitant excess insurance charges (from memory was eitheR 500 or 1000). They seemed stunned that I would do this, but I would not have been able to relax during the drive, worrying about some numpty hitting the car. I would not want a simple test drive to end up costing me a small fortune. The form did not even state the excess applied only to own fault accidents. I went out wit the salesman instead. He took me on a very weird route that did not help the decision making process at all

I agree that buzzes must be very difficult to pin down. However, the issue is repeatable (at very specific instances) and having raised my initial issue with the Service Manager, he has agreed that the work should not have been charged for, as the car is under Warranty, so they clearly agree that they should cover the costs. I hope there won't be too much 'ripping' apart to be done. They certainly didn't damage my car the first time so I hope they won't do any damage when it's in next for them to attempt to resolve again.

My car buzzes at 2000 rpm ish, right inside the dash, when the inside of the car heats up the facia on the radio creaks, with the door trim. The b pillar rattles. Each drivers air vent ticks and creaks.

Basicaly i know i would not get anywhere with the dealer hence the reason i havent bothered. My conclusion to all this, hire one before you buy if posible, as this sort of stuff you dont pick up on when you test drive. And i dont think its brand specific eather i think the lighter cars get the more you notice this sort of thing. Its totaly annoying but as i say the aggravation you go through taking time out to drop cars off, then thay say, we have fixed it. Only to find thay havent, then back to the dealers. All this takes it out of you, hence i would not bother, unless its realy bad.

Totally true.

I also think that with how cars are suspended now to a more firm ride coupled with poor Road surfaces rattles etc will manifest early on.

You are correct that this is not an isolated skoda problem, but, never before have I owned a car (from new) which has so many niggles. Like you I got tired of arranging dealer checks etc so i rather just allow them to add up and get them checked at service time. This car has really eaten up a lot of my spare time. Not exactly 'trouble free motoring'.

Id rather have a kia now.

Could be. However, I can only summise. The internet is full of accusations following dodgy customer experiences. I'd rather stick to what I know at this time and allow the Garage to attempt again to fix the situation and I will be very wary from here on in. The reality is, the Garage I bought the car from (Aldershot) is not an option as too far away.  I've vowed never to step into a Sparshatt group garage again (two alternative nearest Dealers). This leaves my one and only localish Dealer a 20 odd Mile drive away in Brockenhurst. If I walked away from Winchester too quickly, it would be a pain in the bum. I've got the evidence from this situation and I'll walk away if anything else occurs in the future.

For what it's worth I would drive the 20 odd miles to a dealership as good as I have found Meaden's of Brockenhurst and Sway.

An update! I have checked my Bank Account over the past couple of days and no refund has appeared. I called Winchester Skoda this morning and asked to speak with the Service Manager. He wasn't available, so I asked to speak with his Manager, who wasn't in. When I asked for the Dealership Managers email address and advised I would be calling Skoda UK to put in a complaint, the Servicing Manager became available.

He explained that he had been off sick and would put the refund through today!! Mmm. I wasn't happy with that so I raised issues about Customer Data Protection of my card details, lack of procedure to fulfill refunds or contact the customer if a key staff member was off etc etc. He apologised but didn't seem overly concerned. He gave me a (wrong) number for Skoda UK Customer Services, so I called them and spoke with Gemma who handled my concerns very well. She called the dealership, ran through her concerns and got back to me within the space of about an hour.

Funnily enough the refund has now been made (although not yet in my Bank Account) and the issue logged with Skoda UK. Not a decent experience, I'm afraid.

I'm sure that there are other forum members who might push for some kind of compensation. I'm not that bothered. I just want a decent service. It's a shame that one incident has tainted 6 Years of previous experience. I'm hoping that my concerns will be flowed through the dealership and others haven't had these unnecessary charges incurred! The main issue I have is that the issue could have been resolved, even after the Service  Manager had gone off sick. A quick call to tell me the refund would be delayed, or a phone call when he returned and I would have been annoyed, but would have accepted it. Schoolboy error on Ashley's behalf I'm afraid.

I have a buzzing noise that sounds like it's from passenger side B pillar. Upon further investigation it's actually from under the bonnet and is the air intake rattling as it's plastic on plastic. Going to put a foam strip around it to give some cushion and hopefully stop the vibration

Hopefully, the final Chapter of this incident has been closed! I picked the car up this morning after a return to get the buzzing sorted. Guess what? It turned out to be the fuel line vibrating - the very thing I raised I first took the car in  :notme:  The trip back was silent, so fingers crossed what they've done (added ties and some packing around the line) will be lasting!

I've got the buzzing also. Trust Skoda Stourbridge told me they had fixed it. I jumped in the car and as soon as I started driving it came straight back!

Rang and spoke to the service manager - 'drop it in when you can Sir and speak to me, I work Monday to Friday 9-5'.

So does nearly everyone else who can afford a brand new car..!

All I got for my three days without my car was dashcam footage of the service guys speeding and swearing.
