Best Discount Dealer

Anyone used "New Car Discounts"? They seem to be offering excellent prices for new Yeti's, much lower than other internet suppliers - which makes me a bit suspicious but reviews are generally positive. Thought I would see if anyone has used them before and, if so, how they performed.

Quite a lot of threads in the Superb section on them about 6 months ago, where a whole batch of orders were cancelled as a supplying dealer got censured for putting private orders through fleet books. Maybe they have resolved this

I have not come across "New Car Discounts", but have used broker sites to get a feel for what prices are realistically available since 2002.Prices across the broker sites differed little, suggesting they were about the best price you could get whilst still leaving the dealer with a profit so that he can run a business.

Armed with prices from https://www.drivethedeal.com/ I have visited local dealers and they have matched prices allowing me to subsequently buy a Renault Scenic, VW Touran, Toyota Aygo, VW UP and my current Yeti.

Best I found when looking was Broadspeed or Coast2Coast. The 1.4tsi l&k was around £21k.

I still went for a lease deal as it was much, much cheaper. At £21k that car will still lose at least £10k over 3 years. It makes the £2500 per year cost of the lease seem cheap.

I feel for anyone who pays near list and then sells after a few years!

I am trying to work out real life costs. I always keep cars at least 5 years and usually 6 to 7 years so over those timescales lease deals financially lose a lot of their attraction.

On a similar vein anyone used "UK Car Discounts Ltd"? Good discounts and ad says you don't pay until car is delivered to you.

Have you tried ColinD re the Briskoda discounts on new cars?

Hi

I bought my Yeti through "buyanewcaronline.co.uk" I did get quotes through New Car Discount as well. Local dealer wasn't really up for negotiation and the online people were all actually very good - they didnt try & sell any "add ons" like GAPP ins, Paint protection etc. As an ex-banker i was very dubious about buying something over the internet, so i paid a heafty deposit using my credit card - which gave me total protection on the purchase due to credit card protection (consumer law) as the car came out to arround £21500 (I think) purchased in Jan 2015 & had car delivered for 1st March 2015. I did a lot of research to get the best price & I have to say I was pleased with the service I got - they answered every question either on line or by telephone. The car was ironically supplied & delivered by the dealer who couldnt do the deal???

I note that some of the discounters mentioned in this thread charge interest on finance.

I can recommend Carwow for price and follow-up enquiries.

Just bought a Yeti Outdoor SE L on PCP with dealer's £1,000 deposit contribution and 0% finance.

Admittedly, dealer offers change from time to time (Yetis ordered since 1 Jan appear to come with £500 fuel card) but I happy at not paying RRP.

I am interested in the discount you were offered by Carwow dealers in your area if you don't mind sharing. I have just asked for similar offers on an SE L Drive and so far its about 4% discount. Thanks.

+1 for CarWow.

I did my deal just before a £400 price rise in early November.

I bought a Yeti 1.2TSI 110 SE L Drive with added rear-view camera in Petrol Blue for less than £20K

I had a test drive at the local dealer and signed a contract.

The next day, they rang to say they couldn't deliver at that price.

I cancelled the deal and got a deposit refund.

It was cost effect to buy via phone and internet from a dealer more than 100 miles away, who is delivering free of charge.

As I said in my earlier posting, Skoda do change deals from time to time.

Have just looked up the main Skoda website: Yetis are available with £1,000 dealer deposit, 0% finance on PCP and a £500 fuel card

It does not really surprise me (but it should) that some dealers are prepared to breach a contract.

It does not really surprise me (but it should) that some dealers are prepared to breach a contract.

...because they know i'ts likely that the majority of retail customers will roll over and accept the breach.

Three times they said would supply the Drive spec for free. Before I signed, they told me that once signed, there was no going back.

Next day, they went back. They lost the sale.

Turns out it was a blessing in disguise.

The price from the second dealer (quoted earlier) was considerably cheaper than what I signed for with the first dealer for the ' free'' Drive spec.

The get-out is iin the dealer's contract small primt T&Cs that says that all sales personnel offer are subject to manager approval.

I wonder if that get out clause works both ways? Sounds to be what would legally be considered an unfair contract condition.

Yes, I wondered whether post-signimg I would have been able to change details, such as paint colour.

I did ask the dealer whether they would honour the verbal and

written contract but they said that they were unable to do so.

A case, it seems, of caveat emptor

Everytime I sign a new contract its subject to the other half's approval.

My route to a cash purchase was

1 Asked best price for chosen model/extras at nearest dealership

2 Obtained comparisons from

   Broadspeed

   CarWow

   Orange Wheels

   DriveTheDeal

   UK NewCars

3 Contacted lowest offer dealerships identified by each broker to validate their offers

(in Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex and Kent)

4 Returned to nearest dealership and showed all the detailed broker evidence.

(The dealership had not appeared in any of the broker offers)

5 Local dealer price matched best broker offer plus further discounted their servicing, extended warranty and petrol offers.

6 Signed order 25 Feb 2016 and delivered 28 April 2016

Birchwood Skoda Eastbourne, Paul North & Sharif Ebrahim

Could I have done even better? Maybe - but I was happy with the final result and once the dealership saw that I was a 'serious'

likely customer, they could not have been more pleasant to deal with. No Part exchange involved but they did most of the work

for the transfer of my private plate to the new car prior to handover.

The lowest 'made to order' prices came from Yorkshire and Scotland, as I remember, but I wanted to see my actual car before

completing the purchase, so 'free delivery' or a long rail journey ruled these out.

(A non-repairable puncture while driving home from handover took the sparkles from the cherry from the icing from the cake though!)

Not nice!  I do hope you'd spec'ed a spare wheel....

The key thing is you get the right deal, it's ok to pay more... no point saving if it's not right or it's a lot of hassle or stress. Your car, your the buyer. That's why we still see local dealers doing local retail walk in ale, it's a good thing overall. The volume bonus or hitting agreed target is worth it to follow through on some deals and there is no substitute for using your local dealer over and over to build rapport and value. It will eventually pay off, you might get a better courtesy car for example or real coffee. Lifes little things... that said, don't pay too much :D

For cash or traditional skoda finance, try the service we have, @wardy, @davelees mentioned it. > https://cars.briskoda.net. This is free to use, the dealer pays the community after you've taken delivery. Those that are active, have agreed to offer a good price that is below what you'd get walking in and asking. It's not as slick as some of the bigger sites mentioned, but you should get a great starting price to work with for cash or finance. I'm waiting on an update to the offers, so take any issued today with a pinch of salt. Plus the free "fuel/shopping" card offer is back on.

For contract hire, best to email me the car you want, the options, the terms, so initial payment 3 over 23 months and your annual mileage. From Monday I'll be able to return figures on base cars. I still have to send off for cars with options on as there are way too many combinations. There are over 230 different models on pain options alone.

Any questions, just ask, I'm only watching forum upgrade scripts this morning, save me from boredom.
