Sounded promising until they decided it would have the 2.0 bi tdi diesel. The 2.0 TSI 280 4x4 drivetrain as used in the Superb would have made a much more interesting VRS model.

Way of most things these days. You can spec a Kia Sorrento to over £42k for top spec.

Unfortunately since the £14k Octavia vRS the £/€ has tanked (was over 1.4 now 1.1), wages haven't tracked inflation and the emissions gubbins have increased prices.

Yes that is my concern, my Octavia 2.0 tsi VRS is not cheap to run. Can get 40 mpg if sensible. But is there a price for fun ;)
