No oil change at 20k ?

Featured Replies

My 1.6tdi was just in for a service. (at a main Skoda dealer) Basically all that was done was an inspection and a pollen filter change.

I had assumed it would need an oil and filter change too.

Car is on fixed service every year or every 10k.

Is the no oil change correct ?

that's terrible, oil should be changed every year without fail if you are doing 20k... especially when you are paying for it too!!

So which of your areas Main Dealers was the car in at & how much were you charged, or is it on some Service Plan?

Fixed Servicing at 9,400 miles / 372 days,  Flexible servicing 18,500 miles / 2 years or so.

So what is the Service Indicator now set at?

Was this its 2nd Fixed Service it was in for that had them changing the Pollen Filter?

How many miles has the car done?

EDIT.

DOH sorry, missed or ignored the title. '20,000 miles'

So 20,000 mile service and they are treating it that since the last service it is on Variable, or so they will say.

?

So what was the cost of this Service they never bothered completing?

How do you know its set to fixed servicing ?

Has the dealership confirmed its on fixed servicing

That's pretty bad, it should've have definitely had an oil and filter change. Unless it was last serviced 10K ago and it's actually set to variable (which is every 20k miles, so another 10k to go before another (although in that case it wouldn't have needed a service at all)).

Look at the sticker with your VIN number and lots of codes on it on the front page of your 'Service Schedule' book. One of the codes (somewhere near the middle on mine) should be QI1, QI2, QI3, QI4, or QI6; this will be what service interval was set from the factory:

  • QI1 - Every 5000km (3107 miles) or 1 year
  • QI2 - Every 7500km (4660 miles) or 1 year
  • QI3 - Every 10000km (6214 miles) or 1 year
  • QI4 - Every 15000km (9321 miles) or 1 year
  • QI6 - After the service interval display.

Each of those should have and oil filter and oil change as a minimum.

They can be on Variable Servicing as long as the Correct Oil is used and it is Long Life.

It is not for a Dealership to choose your servicing regime, but if no Oil & Filter change was done they can not charge the 'Minor Service Charge' or anything for Oil,

filter, sump plug.

It's on a fixed one yr or 10k service schedule. That was what was agreed when I bought the car. It was serviced at 10k.

I will give them a call tomorrow morning.

Not able to check paperwork/service book as other half has the car this evening and it's all in the car.

Sad to tell you this, just because you asked a Salesperson doesn't mean it happened

fergiet, what you want to do is check the Service Indicator in the car, & the invoice you received.

?

What did you pay, and was it at Sir Arnolds, Western or someplace else?

Looks like I dropped one of the pages attached to my bill. Oil change was carried out so all ok.

Found the missing page on drive. Lucky it did not blow away.

Thanks for all the replies.

 WTF !!!

Well back to square one. You now have paperwork suggesting it was done.

Was it actually done or not :D

Best to do it yourself. Sadly not really an option for cars this new though, and not really favoured by buyers I suppose.

Whats the colour of the oil :D

I changed my plugs, seeing as within 50K Miles Skoda apparently chose not to, I'm glad of that ( me changing them, not that they ignored it).
