shark stage 0 just a dpf delete

shark stage 1 dosn,t produce any smoke dpf complete

shark stage 2 gives a light haze dpf gutted

shark stage 2+ gives soot (no longer available)

as for results I never got any from the garage just "its no where near mate smoke all over"

If that is what the garage told me then I think I would be going elsewhere anyway.

They should be giving you a failure sheet with the emissions sheet attached I believe.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Point 3 - Unless the DPF is causing issues, leave it well alone until it does need looking at. Don't fix things that ain't broke. Driven properly, a diesel with a DPF should not be any problem at all - a works VW Crafter TDI with a DPF has clocked up 200k miles in just over 3 years, and not once has the DPF light come on.

+1 my scout PD is approaching 162k and other than a failed differential pressure sensor at 150k the dpf has given no problems.

hi guys sorry for taking so long getting back to everyone.

long story short i took the car elsewhere for a test while i waited there. the first time they did the smoke test it failed but the next time they were much kinder with the revving and it passed easily... make of that as you will...

car passed with 1 minor so happy ending after many sleepless nights and many bottles of redex. the cars been carbon cleaned and now produces much less smoke so hopefully when its MOTd before its sold i wont have any issues.

the cars going soon as im still having exspensive problems with it roughly going to the garage monthly for electrical problems but thats a topic for another day...

thanks to everyone who offered their knowledge

haha you wouldnt believe how close i was.

I don't see anyone asking about what fuel you use (yes, I know it's a contentious issue with no real figures to back it up). Is it supermarket fuel, or from a brand name? If using supermarket stuff, then that could be the reason, especially if the previous owner used nothing but branded fuel.

Mainly because standard branded fuel is little difference to supermarket fuel. Premium fuels contain extra detergents to clean the fuel system which is a benefit but cheaper to just use Millers or annual high strength fuel treatment.

@toddywow glad you got it sorted in the end. You should have used the BG244 or Archoil 6400-d instead of the Redex which isn't that effective compared to the modern equivalents.
