Skoda Funky - DAB version

Featured Replies

On some markets the Skoda Funky was available with DAB. I'm trying to find out what the part number is.

I've found that the part number for an UP is 1S0057156F (where the F at the end implies that it is the DAB version) but that will have the wrong light color ...

If you have a Skoda Funky with DAB i would appreciate if you would hold the menu button for 10s and note the versions

My radio without DAB is

HW005
SW0063
1ST035156C

Beginning on CW45/2013, the Funky radio for the Citigo will be optionally equipped with DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuner with DAB/DAB+/DMB (MPEG-1-A L II, MPEG-4 HE AAC V2, MPEG-4 BSAC, 16kBit-320kBit) support.

If it's like the other VAG units the DAB will not just be limited to units ending in an 'F'. That may be the first revision that has DAB but any revisions after that should also have it. (I've found a unit from a 2013 Citigo that is a revision 'J' unit but it doesn't say whether it is a DAB unit in the accompanying info).

I'm not sure that it it granted that later letters will have all the same features. It can also just be different colors/chrome on the face plate etc. I think that i have found out that H has DAB and that there are two versions with either a black or and chrome edge.

I've found new funky radio's with varying letters for ~150€ while the H versions is over 300€ (the most expensive ones - but others versions are also over 250€. But it is mailorder from eastern europe and without much info besides the part number.

Only way to be sure is to look at the back and see whether it has one or two connectors (or trust the seller).  I have found one used one for sale and asked seller if he has the security code. Without it i'll have to pay the local skoda shop for connecting a tester and finding it on online on skoda server. Then i might just as well buy a new unit .... As far as i know i'll also need the skoda shop with a new unit to have it registered correctly

Just checked and our 2016 non-DAB unit is a version P.

Do you have a local dealership parts dept. that could help you in confirming which versions are DAB and which are not?

Well -  I've not tried yet.

I have a good relation with the skoda shop where we bought the superb 6 years ago and they have done all service and repair on it. It is up for service again in 2500km

The citigo on the other hand is bought used from grey import.  And at the moment i plan to let them service that as well. It should have the first yearly service (simple oil change) in a few month.

If i buy a new DAB radio I'll still need the skoda shop to activate it - if i buy a used one with security code i can do without.  But I'll also need them to read out the security code for the radio that is already fitted (should i sell it)

So i just try to be prepared and choose the cheapest path - and a bit ekstra work is probably much cheaper when they are doing service on the car anyway ....
