Per chance - are these 205/55 16's?

I have this size on mine - continentals - that have 40k on them. Near end of life now, the rears wore on the inside somewhat when I drove thorugh France with the car stuffed with large passengers and loads of luggage (middle of tyre still healthy though)

Yes. They are Continental 205/55/16. I am a fairly gentle driver and the car is generally used on out of town runs. Nevertheless, I am surprised by the wear performance.

On buying mine I targetted Superb models with the 205/55/16 tyres as they had worn so well on my previous Superb I. I once got burnt with the cost of tyres for a previous Saab that had very expensive low profile tyres and wore out in less than 15,000 miles - that car cost me over £1k/year just in tyres

My rationale was somewhat different. I wanted to avoid low profile tyres and I am very happy with my choice. The car has been truly brilliant in the 3.5yrs since I bought it new.

I bought mine at 14 months  - likewise truly brilliant car refined and comfortable and thus far faultless. Even the economy has been way better that I expected considering mine drinks from the other pump
