Ambient lighting

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have the Sportline and I'm having a bit of bother figuring out how to change the Ambient strip lighting around the dash / doors that can be changed to one of 10 colours. It's constant on Red

Couldn't find a topic in this forum......any help appreciated!!!

Thanks!

On the Columbus:

Car (hard button) >> Settings (screen button) >> Background Lighting

From there you can select the colour of the LED strip and also the level of footwell lighting.

MrB1

Try this:

Ignition on - (from Columbus) - Menu (button bottom right) - Select VEHICLE (from screen icons) - Select SETTINGS (bottom right of screen) - Select BACKGROUND lighting (around half way down scroll-able list)

This should give you an image of the car interior, doors and dash can be set independently so select the area to change first then select colour. Colour and intensity can be set here. Intensity of foot well can also be set here. The door and dash lights seem to increase to full brightness when doors are open but when driving return to set level

Instrument lighting is set under DASHBOARD not in this area.

Good luck, looks good when set up

I wish i had more colours!

L&K only has 3- blue, green and soft white which is kind of pinkish.

The blue looks the best (light cream leather) but I think red would look good too, as would bright white.

My L&K has loads of colours, pinks, oranges and everything. Wonder why yours doesnt?

The 10 colour option is only for later models. Earlier models only have the 3 colours.

Ours is always set on blue which is good because it would be my color of choice.... Oh apart from Halloween when we have to have green !

Ah well.  At least I have blue which does look great.

More colour options can be added on VCDS for earlier models that have the LED strips.

I heard that VCDS can only replace RGB settings for current colour options, not add new.

Yeah I think it can just go to different variants within that spectrum, if that's the right way to to put it.  @Gizmo68 should be able to give us the low down :)

You can't add new, only change the three colours which are already there. I've changed one to red so now have red, blue and green.

+1, I charged the ‘warm white’ to red

I don't have ambient lighting in my car, but like it nonetheless. Are there any blue bulbs available for the foot wells, I think is would be a nice touch to have soft blue lighting in the front and back foot wells.

Are you footwell lights LED or std bulbs?

If they are not LED then you can fit something like these (if the colour is not what you want then search for some ‘5050 W5W’ LED's

5050 is the LED type... these are the brightest

W5W / T10 / 501 are all the same fitment and this is what is needed for non OE LED footwell lights.

Do your footwell lights stay on whilst driving? Mine do and cannot see a setting to make them turn off. Previous non-Skoda cars the lights went off after a short time. Absolutely brilliant car though. (150 L&K Hatch 2016.)

Look in the Infotainment settings under lights, the option is in there.

Thanks for this. No idea if they are LED or not, will have to investigate.

If they emit a pure white light then they are LED, if they are more yellow like a std household bulb then they are normal filament bulbs

Many thanks but all I can see is the option to dim the footwell lights permanently. I was wondering if there was an option to have them dim a few minutes after turning on the ignition.

VCDS - > Customize colour of ambient lighting
Controller 09 - Central Electronics
16 - Security Access - enter 31347
10 - Adaptations
To change the 1st colour (warm white):
(31)-Int. light; 2nd generation-Rotwert Farbe 1 (currently160)
(32)-Int. light; 2nd generation-Gruenwert Farbe 1 (currently 167)
(33)-Int. light; 2nd generation-Blauwert Farbe 1 (currently 18)
(To change the green or blue then do the same but for ‘Farbe 2 & 3)
The colours can be varied from 0 to 255, the defaults are (Red / Green / Blue):
1st colour (warm white): 160 / 167 / 18 -->> orangered: 255 / 69 / 0
2nd colour (green): 58 / 245 / 4
3rd colour (Blue): 20 / 170 / 254

I have no idea why I have a duplicate photo in the post above. Tried editing it out but it only shows me having uploaded two photos. Strange.

Does the footwell lighting match the other lighting strips? Havent had a good look in my L&K but I thought they looked white and my strips are red at the moment. Could be wrong though.

I'm pretty sure it's just standard White light in the foot well. Every photo I have seen only shows the strip on the dash and door cards.
