They will say it's nothing to do with fix and anyway won't reverse it. Wasting your time really.

They can reverse it.

I mentioned the problems other users were experiencing and the man at EuroSkoda said they can revert my Yeti back to the original software at any time as they keep a copy on their records.

After the "red letter" I responded to Skoda by email with the following email (below). I got an automated reply saying someone would contact me from customer services within 48 hours. Over a week late

As promised - a further update.   I'm now almost 4000 miles post "performance" remap and no issues have (yet) become apparent. The DPF continues to regenerate every 150-300 miles, as opposed

I would take that with a pinch of salt. They might tell you that they have reverted back to the original software and as the problem still exists it shows it's nothing to do with the fix. When in reality they did nothing other than lie to you.

To get my oar in the water; I have a 170BHP 2.0L Yeti L&K that I bought from a dealer a month ago. It has had the fix done, as previously mentioned all dealers will do the fix if they get a car to sell under instruction from VAG.

I've had no issues at all in the month I've had the motor and I've only heard it do a regen once when I parked up at home after a short trip to the in-laws.

?

How many miles had it done pre-Fix and have you done since?

Euro Skoda could not even tell me if the used Yeti they sold me and serviced prior to collection was on a 1 year or 2 year service interval.  Sticker said 2 year, dash said 1, service did not have a clue and never even stamped the service book. Would not believe anything from them.

Glen, we're coming to Worthing next Tuesday to check out EuroSkoda in Palatine Rd, as well as lunching at The Sussex Yeoman.

We want to check the colour Magnetic Brown Metallic as a colour for our new Kodiaq in the new year.

It's a toss up between Petrol Blue and the Magnetic Brown Metallic.  BOTH colours will look amazing with the beige Alcantra leather seats. B)

There is no evidence of that, and the only people who are 'at risk' is the dealer themselves pertaining to a severely damaged reputation.

If you buy from Worthing, just keep your wits about you.

They used to have a great sales man called Paul who has long since left, who's service was exceptional. We did have trouble with them when buying the wifes Fabia, full of bull and making up as they went along. Unfortunately for them I used to work for a main dealer many year back and had to have a chat with the group manager.

There version of a full service also does not involve removing the wheel to check rear brake wear. This is an added extra!!

I do love your faith in their honesty, hopefully you will never need to find out if they are. I've never known any garage take a backup of the original software before overwriting it with an update let alone storing it after installation. They normally work by running a checksum to confirm it has installed correctly and if it fails they rerun the install again.

You may be right, there is no proof and It may just have been a 'brush off'.

It had done 26k before and now reads 31.5k. I think a previous post mentioned that the 170bhp model doesn't seem to be adversely affected by said, "fix".

My brothers Octavia VRS was affected, noticed the drop in power straight away and then limp mode not long after.

I think the VAG definition of "fix" is the same as when you take the dog to the vet to get it nuts chopped off :o

I have seen posts asking if people that had the fix on 170ps had adverse affects showing so it is good when people report not.  But then there are those reporting no issues after 1.2 or 1.6 or even other output 2.0 litre TDI's have no ill issues after the fix.   The issue appears to be for those that sadly are.   Maybe the difference is how there PDF or EGR is pre fix.  Time will tell as it is coming out in the wash,  or out the exhaust still maybe....

I don't think that it is a pre-condition issue and VAG tried to suggest that when they weren't willing to foot the bill for the sudden increase in breakdowns post fix. My brothers car was only 3 year old with less than average mileage but still fell victim. This is all irrelevant though as the VAG fix should apply to all cars regardless of age and component condition. If the original components were not to standard to cope with the additional work load created by the fix then these should have been replaced too.

The world is full of very smart Mechanical Engineers and many will be VW Group Employees, and employed by Government Agencies and other organisations,

research establishments etc,

so if VW Group are not yet telling why 'The Fix' is not as VW Group said it would be, and are not ready to admit it can cause premature hardware failures someone else will.

Plenty have theories,

there must be those out there carrying out tests, including VW Group you would hope.

It reminds me of the guy that fell off the tall building.

As he passes the tenth floor was heard to say no problem so far!

From everything I have read the fix can cause premature failure of Egr etc. Saying "I have had the fix and not noticed any issues" is just wishful thinking that it will not go into limp mode tomorrow as has happened to several on here.

As many have said, why take the risk as emissions in normal use are not really reduced, so even guilt about that is irrelevant.

Personal choice I know and whilst I agree those colours would contrast well with a light coloured leather I'm not sure those body colours would look right on a car as big as the Kodiaq.

The Yeti is able to carry off a number of colours and whilst I love my Petrol Blue I don't think there are many other cars I'd want it on.

Good that you are having a look at the colours in the "flesh" and hopefully on Kodiaqs. Only ones I've seen so far are (white which I don't normally like) and silver both of which looked good.

Well, everything had been going so well, until 3rd August.

I had a very nice 3 hr trip towing the caravan from Southend-on-sea to near Cromer.  40mpg, running and pulling nicely.

Went to go about 4:30 pm and found the "exhaust inspection system" warning light. The book says:-

"If the indicator light  lights up, there is a fault in the exhaust inspection system.
The system allows the vehicle to run in emergency mode.
Seek assistance from a specialist garage immediately."

So I phoned up Robinsons in Norwich, explained out of warranty/fix done/could it be EGR valve. They had the car in at 11am next day and ran a diagnostic, so good on them for quick service.

Result was no exhaust fault found, but following fault codes showed up from a week earlier:-

  • high speed Can Communication bus
  • engine control module faulty
  • throttle pedal position sensor.

Car ran fine from then on with no loss in power. 2 up 55mpg + on the maxidot, 38mpg when towing.

Any thoughts?

Colin

Update?

14 1/2 months later I have had the dpf filter warning light come on for the first time at about 35K.

I went to go out for a run as directed but it went off before I was even 3 miles down the road and engine temp was only at 80c. I went for the run anyway.

Is this the start of the end? Is it a good excuse to persuade my lovely other half that a new car is needed. I'm already selling the winter wheels, so I could try my luck.

Colin

Or get the fix removed by a remap, now your extended warranty on possibly affected parts is coming to an end or finished?

3 miles and the coolant might have indicated 80*oC, but highly unlikely the oil was at 80*oC or getting near 90*oC which is an efficient running temp.

DPF warning lights are not the beginning of the end, i have had that on a TDI not 2 years old with 20,000 miles on it.

My apologies Offski I was not very clear. It was oil temp as I had scrolled through the Maxidot to oil temp and was hoping something would happen once I got past 90c which in summer takes about 3 miles but in winter is usually double that. I was holding the gears longer to keep the revs up and raise running temperature. I kept out of fifth gear and for the 2nd and 3rd mile was doing about 55/60 in 4th.

Colin

When it’s f**ked it’s f**ked you may want to hope, believe ,want it to be ok but you know ,we all know it’s f**ked, god praise the FIX.
