14 plate Superb 4x4 Cruise Control query

Featured Replies

My Superb was recently in at the dealers and I had use of a 17 plate Octavia.  Very nice it was too and I liked the updated radio (is that the correct terminology these days?!)…and I noticed the cruise control had a couple of nice features which my Superb doesn’t have.

I assume it is just the spec of the cruise control for my age of car, but the Octavia had the cruise control set speed indicated in the corner of the display.  This was really good as I liked how you could click up and down 1MPH on the indicator to adjust the set speed exactly.  My Superb you can only go by an approximation on the speedo so the accuracy isn't great.

Also, on the Octavia I liked the fact when you have cruise control activated, you can change up a gear without the cruise control cancelling.  On my Superb it drops out as soon as you touch the clutch which is pretty annoying.

I expect this has been covered before, so apologies if this is covering old ground, but I was wondering whether either of these can be programmed into my car via VCDS ?  Again, Skoda newbie here, absolutely no knowledge of this but happy to be pointed in the right direction.

Many thanks

Some Superb 2 models can have the cruise speed display enabled. It seems to depend on the combination of ECU and instrument cluster fitted.

The clutch dropout is a safety feature, so I'm not sure why it would have been dropped on the Octavia unless it's a DSG?

The Golf I had until recently had CC which could be jogged up/down in 1MPH increments on one switch and 5MPH increments on another, it was also adaptive which is how all CC should be.  As the car was DSG this behaviour existed regardless of gear changes and would work all the way down to stopped.

I miss this feature more than the 300BHP figure.  For my type of mileage it was a godsend (whatever one of them is).

Sorry if that doesn't make you feel any better.

Was a manual Chimaera which surprised me when the CC didn't drop out.  Will need to do a bit more research on the set up on my car, and look into possible options through VCDS programming as I expect there are a few goodies built in that I could get made available...

Thanks Gdcobra, am on a manual box which in some ways I like having, but not having tried the DSG I can't comment much further. (its a bit like the smile that was on my face when I spotted the manual handbrake when I first saw my car, me and elec handbrakes don't get on lol !!)

Certainly know I don't have the adaptive CC so perhaps I will just have to keep going with what is fitted as standard.

Cheers

Sorry about that David, I must admit I really liked the way all the systems worked on the Golf and never miss an opportunity to praise it!

The adaptive CC with DSG box and electric handbrake (actually Auto Hold, don't think I ever actually use the handbrake) all worked really well together particularly on the motorway in the inevitable traffic jam.

But it's horses for courses, that was a more modern car with a bigger price tag.

One thing which bugs me a bit the the DSG on the Superb it I either need to keep the footbrake pressed when I come to a stop (which I think is bad driving) or put in in neutral.

Worked on my 2014 Superb:

- enter module 17 - Instruments
- click 10 - Adaptation
- select channel from the drop-down menu and scroll downwards until you find  Cruise Control Display
- select "Active" from the new value drop-down meny
- click Do it!

I have a 2011 Superb and a 2016 Octavia.

I can confirm the cruise control does not deactivate when you change gear (manual) in the Octavia, unlike the Superb where is does cancel the CC.

Thanks Linni, I assume this was VCDS coding rather than the likes of the 'Carista' interface.  I think I would be best to get someone who knows what they are doing to check that out !

Thanks, really liked that feature in the Octavia...suspect it isn't available on a 14 plate Superb...although not read anything saying it is a definite 'no'...!  Cheers

Yes, VCDS.

Find someone close to you with VCDS using this thread...
