Is this some kind of Record...

Ordered Placed week commencing the 3rd April and I've just had word from the dealer the car is in the country and will be ready for collection next weekend = 7 weeks total

Just lucky or something else, anyone had theirs turn up so fast?

Would think someone cancelled their order and your build date jumped into their slot, so your car was built quicker than expected.

@RickTT Good point and probably the most likely explanation.  Was originally quoted 12 weeks by dealer so was extremely surprised by the speed of turnaround.

Not that I'm complaining ;) one very exited person who can't wait till next weekend... and bank holiday weekend to boot.

Big difference to the whole 6 Months I had to wait for my previous car!

I ordered mine 1st March, delivered 26th April.

Engine choice, trim level, extras and sometimes colour choice all play a role in the time it takes to have the car built. From your signature I see it's a Sportline 2.0 TSI Estate. What engine power did you go for, 220 or 280? Was it a stock Sportline or you also got some extras?

My exact order was:

Sportline Estate 220 PS TSI DSG in Metallic Moon White

Extras:

Canton Sound

Front Parking Sensors

Space Saver Spare Wheel

Heated Washer Jets

Rear Backrest Release

Traffic Sign Recognition

Looks like a few others also had quick turnarounds so not too uncommon.

You've done well there considering the specific options you ordered!  The excitement can begin now :)

The excitement started the day I placed the order, its been steadily growing every since... can hardly contain myself right now feeling like a kid again on Xmas morning

The wife thinks its ridiculous how a grown man can get so exited over something as simple as a car

Can't wait to see some pics of yours @Neil201  I've had my Sportline a few months now and it's a very similar spec to yours (albeit the TDI); I'm very pleased with it.   The Canton upgrade is worth it IMO and is a very good system.

Don't forget you can add High Beam Assist and lane assist via VCDS, seeing as you have opted for Traffic Sign Recognition.

@penguin17  I'll be sure to get some pics up hopefully next weekend.  I have BOSE sound upgrade in my current Audi and have been impressed with it, so hoping the Canton is just as good as I do like my quality Audio.  Already got my music SD cards ready to go with flac files.

Yep was the main reason I added that on after reading about it on here, just hope the dealer actually did add it as it was a late addition to the order.

I did exactly the same and added it a between initial order and build.  I've just had HBA enabled by a helpful briskodian member but the the lane assist coding differed quite a lot on my car compared to the various posts on this forum so I left that for now.  Having had it on my previous car it's not something I used that much anyway but HBA is great and I use that whenever I drive in the dark.

I also got an OBDEleven dongle and changed a few other adaptations myself.

Yes I see there are some very helpful members on here willing to do the VCDS coding for a small fee/token, so will have to get that organised soon.

Not sure I'll use either the lane assist or traffic sign recognition too much but the HBA does seem useful, and its always nice to get something extra for free :) well kind of free

Was going to look at the ODBEleven, guess it is worth while having?

I think so yes.  With no VCDS experience some of the coding changes are a bit too much of a gamble for me to change as they don't always correlate with the VCDS instructions but as far as fault scanning and changing adaptations via simple drop down menu's, I think it's a very good product.

I did have to buy an unlocked Android phone to use it though as we are an iOS/Apple household. I just sit on my drive and connect the Android phone to my home wifi, works quite well

Yes I bought the Pro version direct from their website:

http://obdeleven.com/

Purchase was done via PayPal, Voltas IT is the company behind it.  Deliver took around 7 days.  Then it's just a case of downloading the App, creating an account and pairing the dongle to your car.

With the new speeding fines i find it great being able glance at the readout to check the speed limit for the road i am on .................

@david 1220 That's a fair point.  Not having had anything like that on car before I'm probably dismissing its usefulness to readily before even trying it.  Time will tell if any of these 'gadgets' prove there worth.

Gadgets-- Well a lot of the things on our car looked like that -- till we started using them ! Things like the T.V., great for entertainment while the wife is in the Supermarket ! :-)  A.C.C- did have basic cruise control on our Scout but this is something else ! great in slow traffic as well as motorways. Dont get me wrong theirs some "gadgets" i have , after trying them switched off --- lane guidance being one. Got fed up fighting it when crossing white lines , though sometimes it didnt see them........  So todays gadget is ( in some cases ) tomorrows "must have" !

I always poo pood speed sign warning as I always though I would should know them, until I had a sat nav bought as a birthday present for my motorbike. Now I think that they are quite useful especially when on quite a few occasions you are not sure if it is 30, 40 etc.

Beleive it or not I actually love gadgets, I've been a 'techy' most of my life.  However I only like and use what's actually useful (to me of course) and dont like gadgets just for the sake of the latest fad or just because its new and shiny tech.  For instance cruise control, I've had standard versions in my last couple of cars but rarely ever use it.  I like to feel in control at all times.  Might prove different with ACC, but I doubt it.  Same goes for Lane assist,  can't  see me using that either for same reasons.  I was of the same opinion as @Danny 57 with regards to speed signs, you should always be fully aware of the current speed limit.  However I can see the value in TSR helping to remind and keep informed of it and no one is infalable .  HBA would I think prove more useful to me personally.

This of course is only my opinion and I've  no doubt these can be very good safety features for many people, each to there own and all that.

And I could of course change my mind on some of these once I've actually tried and used them myself ☺

Speed limits--- with the council cut backs the road signs tend to be a bit "overgrown" at times & hard to spot....................

I had BOSE in previous Audi, but don't think Canton is as good, due to no speaker in parcel shelf and quality of speakers in rear doors.
