Missions filling the vRS with fuel!

Featured Replies

Before i phone the garage and look like i am being an idiot i thought i would ask you lot about this problem i had when filling the fabia with diesel yesterday.

Picked up my brand new vRS yesterday morning, drove about 45miles in it before the fuel light came on (nice of the garage to leave so much in there for me!).

Off i go to the petrol station to fill it up. The pump works ok for around

Audi have this problem with the A3 sportback - they had to change the filler neck design slightly.

Basically it was caused becuase of the extreme angle the neck goes -- to fill up you had to twist the nozzle to an odd angle - then it would be fine.

Oh my god, thats all need, hopefully the mpg will be good enough so refills are few and far between unlike the clio 172 the fabia replaced.

I searched the forum for problems like this but didn't see any results. I thought an issue like this may have had a few mentions if it was a known problem?

Yes, as Dave says try pulling the nozzle out a bit. If you have it fully pushed in it does stop the pump.

my fabia doesnt do this thank god i know its anoying my punto sporting did this every fill up have you tried releasing the air from the tank with the catch in the top of the filler nozzle?

This happened to me once where it kept cutting out numerous times, I played around with the angle/depth of the nozzle and it finally filled ok... think that was in a shell garage... it's cut off once or twice before filling in esso/sainsburys but never to anything like the same extent.

Not had a problem wityh this on the fabia, I have had it on other cars but find that pulling the pump out a bit stops it from happening. no more deep throat froom you fabia should sort it.

Not had this myself - either the nozzle is in too far or you've got it at the wrong angle. Or Skoda have re-designed the filler cap, which I find hard to believe...

Steve

I have had that problem twice now, once I just gave up, nothing I did would make any fuel go in. The second time I pulled the nozel out an inch or two which seemed to fix it, but when I pulled off saw I only had 3/4 of a tank.

Thanks for the info,

I tried all sorts of angles, pulling the pump out a bit didn't help either. I will go and see if messing with the catch at the top of the nozzle helps, if i can find it.

When I fill mine I always push the nozzle in as far as I can and pull the handle back thus pointing the nozzle backwards. Always takes full flow no problems.

Not had this problem with mine...... in fact I always

fill it right up including the expansion tank by releasing

the air with the tit on the filler neck:)

mine will cut out, I pull the nozzle out a bit, and twist it towards the back of the car, then it fills up fine! :)

I use to get this problem all the time when I first got mine. Try turning the nozzle to the 2 oclock position. Not had the problem since. Its now been 2 years.

Right, next time i will try the 2oclock move then!

Although according to the trip computer its averaging 51mpg. So it will hopefully be a while until the next refill.

;)

 this happened to me today. i had about 30 miles left (shown on digital readout) pulled into the diesel station and tried to fill up. 50p each squeaz of the handle!

i had to put only

The ultimate solution is fill up at home :)

Run Biodiesel 50:50 and you spend half as much time on forcourts.

There's a cutout in the fuel cap so it clips onto the flap BTW! Wouldn't want you scratching the paintwork...

Yeah I knocked it off putting the hose in

LOL

I know mine has the same problem everytime I fill up.

Slightly change the angle or pull out a bit and you will soon get used to it :D

My current boxster is the same, managed to get the nack now. Rotate nozel and start filling up slowly then gradually increase the speed. Works everytime.

Yep, mine cuts out sometimes too. I wiggle the nozzle about a bit (that's the technical term for it, I'll have you know) and it sorts itself out.

It's certainly the most annoying thing, especially when you want to put in

Well im going to have a go this afternoon after work. wish me luck! :thumbup

last time when I posted it took me 5 minutes for
