Electric Drivers seat with memory - Sanity check

Featured Replies

Think I'm either loosing the plot or the memory function on my seat has failed.

Car new in March 2017, set it all up - fine to keys etc..

Now need to make adjustment to seat position and I cant get the seat to memorise it.

I have read the manual and my interpretation is:

1. Press and hold 'Set' button.

2. Press applicatble seat memory button.

3. Memory store is acknowledged by a 'Ping'

Also I cant seem to get the seat to move to any of the other 2 momory positions that have been set for other drivers.

I have tried all above with engine running.

Any ideas ?

I found that you just press the set button, let it go and then press the applicable seat memory button.

I know what you mean, it sounds like you need to press them both together when you read the manual.

^^^^ This

If its the same as my Octavia 230 I've set the seats to the buttons,  Turn on Ignition, Set seats/mirrors  (for going forwards ) put car into reverse and set mirrors ( for going backwards/parking, mirror dip, mirror switch to " L " ), gear stick into neutral  turn off ignition, open drivers door, press set then seat position number until you hear a bong  Seats/mirrors stored

Yes, the manual is wrong. You only press the set button, not hold it.

Once set in this way and not as stated in the manual, the Ping comes almost immediatelly. The instructions for setting the passenger wing mirror following the setting of the seat, are correct.

Any result on this issue ?

I need to have another try, tried it quickly this morning and no beeps.

Will try and post latter

You need to press the seat memory button within 10 seconds of pressing the 'set' button. If you've set the passenger mirror to dip when reversing, you will need to set it again.

Guys,

Thanks for guidence - looks like I have failure on my hands :crying:

Have tried all options as listed above and not a twitch or beep anywhere.

Also now when car is unlocked with second key nothing moves - so I think a memory has failed somewhere. Having said that the radio, climate control and drive mode do change, just the seat that will not.

I'll pop to local dealer and see what they have to say.

Popped into dealers, a fault is showing in the seat memory, they tried  a reset to factory conditions - no change. So its booked in for next Tuesday.

Have also lost the foot operated boot opening - dont know if its related ?

Same topic but slightly different.

Seat memory works fine but does not link to key.  Tried setting seat with another key, getting out, locking car, open with first key, nothing moves . . . .

Suggestions?

It is an April 2017 SEL Exec

I found when setting my keys up initially (when it worked !) that I had to make sure I only had ONE key anywhere near the car at a time. If I had more than one it would not work.

As far as i can remember the hand books instructions do work.

Good luck

Will try again tonight

i setup my keys (one for wifey, one for me) using the "Personalisation" menu in the Columbus.
provided you've personalised the positions/settings for each user prior, u can then assign each user to a key by following the instructions on the Columbus.

its very straightforward and easy to do.

@Smudgers, did you get a result from the dealer visit?

Interested as mine has same behaviour (no seat adjusting, can't set memory and boot foot open not working).

  • 2 weeks later...

We have a fleet of superb and one of them has the same problem...trouble is,the driver doesn't care and hasn't had it fixed...

Definitely a fault, the other 6 have seats that work properly.
