LED Brake Lights (High Functionality)

Featured Replies

I specced my new Octavia 1.4TSi DSG hatchback with the option of LED Brake Lights (High Functionality).

I have an idea of what this is on the Superb but has anyone seen these or know what you get on an Octavia?

I've never seen an Octavia with the rear lights top section extending on to the tail gate.

Should've checked before ordering them I suppose but what the hell - got to spend the kids' inheritance on something!

It's the ones you get on the vRS.

Not to my knowledge. High functionality lights are those on the vRS and probably L&K.

Is that C shape in the picture above the Indicator?

No, that's the side lights. Indicator and revers are just normal halogens. Brake is SMDs at the top and fogs are SMDs at the bottom.

The yellow light then is just a quirk of the photography I assume.

Yeah. From the pics I've seen, the standard fit LEDs (low functionality?) basically look like the old pre-FL cluster with a few minor changes.

I sent Skoda customer service an e-mail mail about the High Functionality Rear Lights,

This is what I received:

"The information from the attachment states that High Functionality Rear LED lights are both sharper and cover more area than the standard LED lights."  -  Well this is  stating the bleeding obvious - cover more area - fill more of the red lenses I assume they mean

The originally sent an attachment but it was all code and corrupted so I complained and received the above. I have asked them to re-submit the attachment or send a .pdf  mainly because I am curious to know which document they have taken the information from.

The information comes from the Skoda Octavia range brochure of which they sent me a link to an online copy. I currently have two of these on my desk as I type.

This is like knitting with no wool.

This could be easily achieved with VCDS by assigning a new function to the rear side lights, making them come on with the brake lights.

What could easily be achieved? Nobody was asking to achieve anything.
