Glad am not alone ! (although not a good thing to be glad about)...  Did you go for any particular make of pad ?  Cheers

There was a similar thread recently and others on this forum had upgraded to Black Diamond pads and disks

Just the ones from the motor factors , not the cheapest version.

I read somewhere recently (but wish I had kept a copy/link to it!!) that a remap won't necessary wipe the full coding of 'the fix'....  I will try to find the info, may have been outwith Briskoda, but basically it was saying the tuner needs to take the car back to factory settings/factory map first, before then applying a remap to your car, otherwise things like EGR management won't necessarily change from 'the fix' remap, to your new remap.  Seems logical to me but hopefully someone who knows the process will chip in here to confirm.  Anyway, my car has already been 'fixed' before purchase by the dealer, so I am waiting until my two years is clear, should in the event I require to call on any goodwill from Skoda.  You may wish to look into that yourself before jumping in for a remap straight away....

The ECU can be considered to have two parts: the software routines that implement all the control functions; and the data maps that determine how the software routines do their job. Most of the time when a tuner remaps your car, they're adjusting the parameters in the maps to achieve a different engine output: the software sees the new data and once it's sane, the engine runs according to the new information.

From what I've been able to piece together from comments around the place, the emissions software update not only changes the data maps, but also the software routines, so even if the data in the map was the same, the way it's interpreted and used will be different. There have been a few off-hand comments from tuners about how it's different. What I'm not sure about is whether or not the software can be rolled back after the update or if tuners now have to work within the bounds the new software imposes.
