Whats the Skoda reccommended maintenance schedule for a n Octavia 1.4TSI 2015 model ?

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Octavia 2015 1.4TSI. After 2 years of ownership it notified me that I should get it serviced so I did (June 2016). 1 year later it now calls for 'Oil change and inspection'. However, I thought that these cars only need such a service every 2 years (something to do with which oil is used maybe ?), and I really do very few miles since the car is only used on weekends. Can anyone explain whether I got this wrong ? I have looked for the maintenance schedule but didn't find any information I feel I can rely on. I'm only interested to follow the manufacturers recommended service schedule.

Fixed is 10,000 miles or 1 year and variable is up to 20,000 miles or up to 2 years. For low mileage you should probably be doing fixed. In fact I'd be recommending anyone who's a private buyer and/or keeping the car long term to be on fixed but that's a different debate for a different day.

I think thats correct anyway.

2 service schemes available:

Fixed - every year or 10 miles

Or

Variable - approx every 2 years or 19k miles, car display tells you when.

Sounds like maybe your car was set to variable, then at the service it was changed to annual? Hence it's now asking for a service.

There are 2 schools of thought for low mileage cars.

Leave it on variable and only service every 2 years to save money.

Change to annual, costs you more but keeps the oil cleaner, might help the longevity of the engine and especially the turbo.

If you intend to keep the car for many years, then annual would be better for the engine.
