Brake light failed

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I just wanted to share the following with you all, a month or so back my oil change warning displayed, so I booked the car in for a service but about a week ago i got a check rear left brake light message.

Decided I didn't want to pay dealer for a bulb change (hourly rates in CH are 3-4 times than in UK) so removed the rear left cluster, took out the bulb and it looked fine but swapped it anyway but fault still present - put back original bulb and scratched my head for a moment or 2.

Next I disconnected cluster again and had my wife work the brake peddle whilst I checked the voltages at connector on LHS - voltage switched on/off OK, next removed RHS cluster and voltage again switched on/off ok. Then realised that connectors and pins outs on both sides were the same so swapped over the clusters (LHS over to RHS & vice versa) and the fault moved with the cluster. So after putting both cluster back and removing the RC throttle box I dropped off the car this morning for the service and told them of what I'd found and on returning to collect the car this evening and service all done, car valeted and cluster changed on warranty without charge.

Good result and good service from the local dealers, so as we only just moved over to Bern area (we previously lived in different part of Switzerland) I will work on building a relationship with them.
