First post here - looking for some advice please.

I have just purchased a 2014 Yeti city, and have noticed dust in the speedo cluster (just on the speedo itself. Rang Skoda U.K who said even though the manufacturers warranty has recently expired, they may deal with it as a warranty repair and that sounds great to me. However, the caveat is that my local dealer will charge me to inspect and diagnose the problem at £85.00 per hour for three to four hours labour - that doesn't sound so good. Has anybody else had a similar problem, and is it a repair or a new unit? Surely dust should not be able to egress the clocks that easily, Iv'e never had this problem before in 40 years of driving. Any help will be much appreciated.
