Yeti niggles

Featured Replies

Bought a used Yeti Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI last week after the seats in my Fabia, which I loved, proved to be too low for my wife's bad back. This one is ideal and performs almost as well as the Fabia.

Two annoying, and well known niggles have made themselves apparent. No digital mph display & a tiny K/ph display. The Fabia had the option to show mph in big numbers on the display & that's what I always used when setting the cruise control. Also, in the Fabia, you could see what speed the Fabia cruise control was set to, not so in the Yeti.

The car is going in to have the ECU remapped next week and to, hopefully, have mph added to the digital display. Can anyone confirm that this is possible on a 2016 Yeti? From reading other threads it looks like it can.

yeap needs Australia adding to countries then its possible on display between the dials

Fingers crossed! Thank you.

I added it to mine with a Carista OBD2 Bluetooth Adapter.
£15:99 from Amazon with full functionality for a month included.
Also did a few other things like needle sweep etc.

Will the Carista allow you to make the rear wiper start when I engage reverse with the front wipers on, dip the mirrors when I engage reverse & allow me to amend the average consumption so it doesn't reset daily?

Aren't the first 2 in the Maxidot menu?

As for the last, I suspect you are in the wrong average consumption menu; is there a 1 or 2 in the top corner?

Do you have electric adjustable seats?
If no nothing will dip the passenger side mirror when selecting reverse.

Unfortunately not. Never mind.

Well, I got the ECU remapped yesterday and the improvement in performance is impressive. The guy who did the remap also put the mph digital display on so I'm really happy. The stop / start has never worked since I got the car which is OK by me because I wanted it disabled. The engineer said best to make sure it's disabled in the ECU & said he'd done it. Driving away from the garage the stop / start worked for the first time! Small hiccup, back to the garage today. Good job it's just around the corner.

The option to show the cruise control setting in numbers (à la Golf, Seat etc) is also available with Carista/OBDeleven.

Not with Carista on my 2015 Greenline Elegance it isn't.

Control unit number 17, adaptations, "GRA High in display"

I'm using OBDeleven, but as I understand it the same long coding and adaptation options should be available regardless of Carista, OBDeleven or VCDS.

Not all engine ECUs support cruise control display so coding the cluster won't help ;)

I'm led to believe that a decent tuner can probably fix it and there are also modified software files for some petrol engines to add support.

AFAIK, only the 1.2 TSI lacks this ability - but of course I could be wrong.

Took the car back to have stop / start disabled. The engineer wouldn't do it because he'd been advised that doing so "would affect other things" Didn't seem to know much about it. So I searched the forum & found a post saying to detach the sensor wire attached to the battery. Found this & pulled it out & stop / start is now disabled. Apparently this is the sensor's only function & nothing else is affected.

Whats wrong with stop start working? It is easy to deactivate when not required by pushing the button, but if your car has a manual gearbox, the engine will always be running whilst in gear with the clutch down. If you are in traffic and it is slow enough for you to select neutral and have the handbrake, or footbrake on  with the clutch up the engine will stop and stop emitting fumes and burning fuel? If you need to make a quick getaway before the clutch is even down to select a gear the engine will be running ready to go. I had this on my Greenline, and never deactivated it. Similarly on my wife's manual Citigo it is never deactivated, and causes no issues.

Slightly less useful on my current Yeti with DSG, as if the engine stops as you come to a halt say at a roundabout or junction and there is a gap straight away and you want to set off there is a pause until the engine restarts and the car pulls away. I just turn the stop start off in that situation, and back on when needed again. No issue at all at traffic lights, as the pause does not happen. Fine in traffic where there are long delays between movements. I know where the button is and regularly turn it on and off, without having to look away from the road.

The sensor is also used to monitor the battery condition and to adjust the alternator output. It really should be left plugged in...

If you want stop/start permanently disabling, a better way is to have the car coded so the stop/start activation triggers are never met.
