The story of the famous DQ200 clutch slip...

Main reason was low cost of doing this and curiosity, also it is well known that no oil lasts forever...

There were in both cases some metal shavings, but minimal, very minimal. To help this I also put strong magnets on the mechatronics drain bolt and bottom three housing bolts of gearbox, since the oil drain bolt of gearbox is non magnetic.

I think that the gearbox is smoother, but it could be placebo effect... Not much different actually.

You have TVS tune right? Do you have gear slip?

Can i ask you to do one thing for me, when you get time. Can you record your shift points in D and S mode, while accelerating slowly to 80 km'h?

Thank you :)

Original shift points are 1200 rpm to 1800 rpm, tvs tune shifts this by 300 rpm, so 1500 to 2100rpm.

For me it is perfect now.

For sport mode I do not know, because I do not need it anymore. Since tuning has been done I do not recall that I had used it. I just flore it and it does the job good enough.

If you look at the tacometer the slips are still there, but limited to about 30 rpm steps, enough that I do not feel them anymore.

Since tuning the car it is now good enough to live with it.

This is dry clutch yes, but it still needs oil to operate and two seperate ones. The wet clutch dsg has only one oil for whole transmission.

Well I finally decided the clutch should be replaced. Even though the slipping currently isn't very noticeable it's still there. Parts are already ordered and will be replaced next month under warranty.

Buy this...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Getriebe-Oladapter-fur-VAG-zu-verwenden-wie-VAS-6262-4/372374253183?hash=item56b33c2e7f:g:cl0AAOSwHStb5Awl

To make your life easier and half of meter long seethrough hose to connect to it. This is for gearbox oil.

Use a 60ml seringe that you can buy in the pharmacy and I advise the needle too. This is for mechatronics unit.

Take the airbox or battery out with the mouting plate to have more access. Either way you have to disconnect the battery in order for the mechatronics unit to be dead in meantime.

Filling takes place on top through breather plastic caps. One is on the gearbox where the P lever cable comes from gearselector and the second one is on top of mechatronics.

Take care when opening the mechatronics one because it does not pull off completely, just tilts to one side.

On bottom of both units there are drain bolts that stand out so they are easy to spot.

I have filled 1.1l to mechatronics and 1.9l to gearbox, why more than specified is another debate, vw specifies 1l an 1.7l, do as you wish. Mind you to use appropriate oils for each purpose.

Just thought I’d update with my issues.

Car has always been remapped.

It’s on 65k now. Had clutch fitted around 1k a go.

Dsg box remapped. Ecu remapped rubbing around 260bhp.

clutch was slipping at 220bhp and 60k in 4th and 6th.

New clutch has been spot on handles all the power. Think more than just the clutch wears as there are many other factors in the gearbox. Selector/engager forks. Bearings, shims and pivot balls to wear. All adding up to the box not being able to push the clutches fully etc. Clutch pack worn but not to the extent of the manual equivalent being worn out and slipping.

Just a little bump on this thread.

?

How are people getting on with their DQ200 DSG's from 2014/15 on?

Anyone else having clutch slip issues, getting them resolved with Skoda / VW Group or not.

thanks.

george

The clutch was just replaced on ours this week under warranty. So far it seems like new again but time will tell if it lasts...

Skoda Fabia 1.2TSI DSG Monte Estate -17. Clutch pack changed after 10kKm under warranty. Was slipping a lot. After new clutch pack everything worked OK. Now I have FL Monte Estate 1.0TSI DSG. No slipping yet. Very pleased with Finnish dealer, every problem has been solved under warranty.

Will have mine replaced 4th of june under warranty. Will also take DMF along. Hopefully it helps after two years of misery and slipping after buying my 1.8tsi 2011 superb.

clutch was also replaced in 2017 under warranty by slips under cold wet conditions...even with dsg modified sw from dsg dokter in the NL...the specialist on this matter.

Hello,

I am too affected by clutch slipping on my 2016 Skoda Fabia 1.2TSI DSG with 35.000KM. Slipping appears only on odd gear numbers (1,3,5 and 7). Lately it became more noticable, first gear slips and is unable to pass second gear in traffic jam, third gears slips when accelerating hard.

I noticed It does seems to get better with temperautre above 20°C and dry weather.

My car is not anymore on warranty since November 2018, does a clutch repalcement really fix this problem ? I know clutch replacement is a pretty big expense.

Original plan was to keep this car at least 2 more years but im afraid to pay big money for a new clutch and still have the slipping problem..... Any advice  ?

Thanks !

It is no guarantee that it, clutch replacement, resolves your issues. You might be better of with a dsg dokter software mod. Increased torque limit, plate pressure and shifting point improvement in D and S. This seems to resolve a lot of slip issues on the lower torgue engines to which the 1.2 tsi belongs. Normally you can even test the modification before buying it!

Improved slip suppression on my 1.8tsi but not fully 100%.

Welcome to the forum. If your car is a 2016 and has early clutch slip then I'd go straight to your dealer to see if they will fit the updated clutch free of charge, even thought the car is out of warranty. Or at least with a healthy dollop of Skoda good will. They should do this as there is a TPI out on the clutch issue. I take it the clutch has not been replaced previously under warranty?

@H@@S

Thanks for the info, might try to get in touch with a local TVS dealer to see what they can do about this issue.

@Estate Man

My clutch has not been replaced yet. it's still factory stock and I wasn't aware of this issue since very recently. Might have been a problem when the car was still under warranty but didn't notice it. The TPI you'r referring to is the one posted in this thread correct ? Means that Skoda is aware of this issue and have a fix for it. I guess I  should trust my dealer to have a permanent fix ? I will call them and try to use the TPI argument to reduce the price of the repair.

it's kinda ironic, I switched to a DSG gearbox because I had problem with my previous manual car clutch which was dead after 50k Km. Guess i should have done more research before getting a DSG.

There have been several attempts by VAG to cure the issue with slipping clutches. I made the mistake of getting two new Mk3 Fabias with the dsg gearboxes, only to find considerable problems. I had the clutches replaced with the second generation units which were supposed to fix the problem. It didn't! Since then a 3rd generation of clutch has been released which is supposed to fix the slipping. I don't know how that has gone because I no longer own a Skoda. I have the new C3 with the EAT6 torque converter box which has no clutches of course to wear out and it give a similar driving experience to a dsg.

Skoda will almost certainly fix the problem for you. Did you buy your car from new?

The TVS 'fix' is not really a fix and is not really needed in my opinion. It may help some a bit but it won't cure the basic problem. I've now driven a car with the TVS fix and it slipped pretty much just the same under load so I personally wouldn't bother with that. And certainly let Skoda fix the problem first before even approaching anyone like TVS as Skoda won't want to know if the has been touched by anyone other that it's own factory trained techs. Not decrying anyone that has now had the TVS fix, if it works for you then that just great. Just not the first thing to do for anyone that has the clutch slip issue.

Just a note - AFAIK this slipping issue is only associated with the dry clutch assembly in the DSG DQ200. Other DSGs use wet clutch system and don't have this problem. Just to let you know in case you decide on another DSG in the future.

Issue is the 2nd gen clutch material in combination with the stock software that regulates microslip, needed for comfort, under light load. Should be unnoticable but it isnt.   With Full throttle hardly slip since clutch fully closes.

1st gen clutch...high wear due to incorrect shift points but initial great grip...in combination with tvs the best but clutches are not available anymore!

2nd gen clutch...harder material, lower wear, always noticable slip under cold conditions. Tvs only provides solution for low power engines 1.0/1.2tsi. Hogher torgue models still slip!

3rd gen clutch...currently being build into my car, awaiting the outcome!

Wonder if skoda can solve this at all and their move to the all new dsg7 wet clutch is not to promising in regards to their attempts. At some point in time all dq200 will be vanished, problem solved!

Going to be a good while until the DQ200 vanishes,

but then there is a cunning plan which is VW Group Hybrids, they can do what others do, the car can pull away from a standstill under electric power.

VW had a gearbox that suited the Golf & Passat 1.4TSI Hybrids and then the implausible / irregular C02 g/km numbers caught them out,

but they are back producing them with WLTP Certification / Approval and still 1.4TSI not 1.5TSI EVO's.

VW can do 2 pedal cars without shifting issues when they really try.

Guys please write down order numbers of clutches i cant deal with 1st 2nd or 3rd generation dry clutch.

0AM198142G

0AM198142F

0AM198142H

I have the F on my 1.8 tsi vw touran and its better but still noticeable everyday. 40000km the 3rd cluth changed in 10/2018.

For my 1.2TSI DSG Fabia Dec 2016 the Skoda ETKA shows appropriate clutch pack 0AM198142G. This is what my car has installed on last change. I have verified this about a month ago at my local Skoda dealer. No change since April 2018 I guess.
