Screen wash bargain.

Featured Replies

It's that time of year where I stock up on screen wash and I've found a bit of a bargain.

Triple QX 5L concentrate is currently on offer at £3.49 at Eurocarparts, but their Halloween discount code also works on top of it so it comes out at £2.09 for 5L.

I bought 5 x 5L bottles, with free delivery it came to a grand total of £10.47.

Then use code Spooky80 at the checkout.

Nice one

Just ordered 4, Click & Collect as I'll be going past the local stat after lunch

?

Being All Season screen wash what temp below freezing does it show it works to?

Not been into LIDL yet to see if any of the good Winter Screen Wash has been delivered.

Nope, was in tonight. It's not listed on their app as a future purchase either.

As for the ECP screenwash, it doesn't state in the listing what temperature it is good for, but as they sell other more expensive Triple QX described as -7 and -15, I can't imagine it being able to handle much below minus temperatures.

I went into our Lidl today - Helston, major swap round going on and couldn’t see any Screen wash. I’ll ask them if they know when it might be coming in.

I see on the Telly that it is cold down Chipping Norton way this morning, and going to be down to freezing and below in parts of Scotland by the start of next week.

Time to winterize the cars this weekend then.  Clean that filler flap area, silicone spray on door seals, locks, hinges etc.

tyre pressures, mats, wipers checked or changed, and coolant ratio.  Interior nice and dry and moisture absorbing packs in.

No temperature shown.

Dilution rates shown as

20%  Normal

50%. Normal Winter

100% (neat) Severe Winter

Living in the soft south I’m not that bothered about extreme low temps.

Anyway at £2.09 for 5 litres I’ll run it at 50/50 for now anyway and lob it in neat from Xmas.

That's the benefit of living in the 'Caribbean' south! LOL

To be fair, the temperature is still in double figures, but normally from October to April/May the temperatures round here hover just above freezing in the forenoon, and normal rise to a balmy 5 to 7°c by the afternoon.

Lesson learnt from a few years ago when Halfords didn't have any of the -25°c screenwash, so I bought some that went to -5 or so , thinking just how cold will it actually get

The average temperature over that particular Xmas was -20. Even the Clyde froze over.

Yup, being a southern sissy has its benefits :D so just picked up two of these for just over £4  B)

I got 4 or 5 of these last time it was on offer back in January. Not even touched them yet as I had 10 litres of Lidl's good stuff from last winter to use up which I'm still on :D

All seasons stuff no use for winter up here.

I've still got some ECP -50C stuff that I dilute down. hopefully the Aldi/Lidl stuff will appear again (even though I don't like the smell).

Same here, got tonnes of the stuff still!

After Christmas, unwanted cheap aftershave gifts from Aunties make for excellent free screen-wash (and have the by product of air-freshening when they seep in through the air vents)

Temperatures have been hovering about 5°c for most of the day, but feels much colder when you stick your hands in buckets of water whilst cleaning the car!

Temperatures have been forecasted to be above 10°c for the remainder of the week after being predicted to hit 0 for most of tomorrow (my twitter feed will be rammed with reports of broken down vehicles and RTC's due to the slippery conditions!), so will book car in to have Cold Weather wheels swapped over week after next which is the latest they've ever been swapped over.

I'll swap over to my Lidl winter screenwash at the same time.

Gah. Car frozen this morning and for the first time in about 20yr I've run out of deicer.

Admittedly I don't think I've bought any for about 10yr.

Get that garage cleared out, or build another for keeping the projects in!

No help though when heading home time.

Bl00dy feels even chillier than it is today which is quite low temp.

Problem is they are p!ss & you are as well using Night Before De-Icer on all the glass if you do something before parking up.

Helps as long as the washers / nozzles are not frozen when that crap gets thrown on your nice clear windscreen as some messy 4x4 drives passed your lovely x-drive BM.

PS,

got a bit warmer as the drizzle came on which was nicer than the windchill when out cycling.

Some drivers seem to have forgotten that when getting dark at 4pm -4.30 the DRLs are dangerous to school kids and other road users,

and that those following them have DRL's to illuminate their rear reflectors but otherwise they are unlit to the rear.

I ageee, too many divs thinking DRL’s are sufficient for night time use, or too stupid to realise they’re not. Although doesn’t need to be winter to see plenty of them about.

Doesn't help that the majority of the DRL system's fitted only activate the front lights. (some systems activate front and rear). Had a few scary moments driving on the M8 in the early hours of the morning during fog or more normally heavy rain, coming up on people with only the front DRL's on.

I guess this is so to imply they’re designed for use during the day only, which of course is lost on the types of people I’ve mentioned. You would think because they named them “daylight running light” it was enough :D

As I say, they’re all divs and should probably be sterilised.

Too much reliance on auto lights. And I'm as much to blame as anyone.

Beemer has auto lights but they are so sensitive that essentially the lights are on unless it's mid-june and cloudless so I often have them off. But I still forget and the DRLs throw enough light to make you forget you've no proper lights on.

And auto lights are often useless for rain, fog and snow.

I'd be up for a ban on auto lights (and wipers). It dumbs you down.

Come this time of year I switch the headlamps on and they never go off until the clocks change again.

Agree - auto lights in the Insignia are terrible. DRLs are a joke too.

Doesnt help that most lights now also illuminate the dash too, which makes some divs think theyre fully lit.

And.. in some cars, turning off the auto lights is the first click on the dial, so people do the old fashoned 2 clicks and drive off... not realising they now only have their 0.25 watts corner candles on...
