On a circuit board inside a module above your accelerator pedal known as the Onboard power supply control unit, I think. The relay is not readily replaceable, as far as I know.

You've checked for voltage across the element connections?

As above post from MicMac.

If the pattern printed on the window has even a small scratch that cuts the track, the circuit is broken.

On some cars the heater is one continuous track so one nick means no heating. On others the track forms a series of separate circuits (connected in series/parallel combinations) so only one or two sections fail.

The previous owner of my car damaged one of the tracks at the top of the windscreen (easily done on an estate) resulting in the top four track sections not working. Not a problem in my case as it outside the area I usually use.

Broken element tracks can be repaired with conductive silver paint, cheap online, expensive in store.

Which reminds me, I need to do the lowest track by the wiper.
