Security Access Codes

Hi!

I am really new to this VCDS stuff but I have come across with something called security access codes that are needed to access modules. Where can one find the correct security access codes for the vehicle?

Thanks in advance!

VCDS normally provides any security access codes needed for common procedures.

If you're trying to do something that's needs a code that's not provided, asking on the rosstech forums is your best plan.

Same issue here, code 12345 works for some things but for engine it doesn't work.

If Ross-Tech know the security access code(s) for a module then hovering the mouse over the box where you enter the code will show them.

@SWBoy thanks but I’m using obdeleven as it’s just a home project for me. I’m guessing obdeleven is not well liked by Ross-tech? As there are not that many guides/help for it.

Cheers

While VCDS and OBDeleven are both diagnostic tools they are not developed by the same companies, and neither get support from VAG.

Ross-Tech write and support VCDS, if you use OBDeleven then you need to contact obdeleven.com for support.

@SWBoy thanks, yes I see what you mean, but I thought this was a Skoda support forum? So I don't understand why I can't ask here for obdeleven advice. In all seriousness am I missing something?

Vcds can only show a login code when it's connected to a module so unless someone has vcds, the same module and it's running the same software version, there is no guarantee that it'll work.

Given you've got given any details it's hard to help.

Even then, contacting obdeleven may still be quicker :-)

You can definitely ask for OBDeleven  advice, but in your first post you said

I am really new to this VCDS stuff

so you were asking for help on VCDS not OBDeleven :)

Anyway now that's cleared up, the security access codes are something that VAG tend to keep secret and have to be discovered (often by trial and error) for each and every module that uses them (not all do), so there is no definitive list available AFAIK.

What specific modules do you need a security access code for and what are you trying to do that you think needs one?

I see the confusion, the first post wasn't by me, i never asked for vcds help. But anyhow a fair assumption :)

Yes I guess VAG do not want us poking around. I was having trouble yesterday with coding the audi throttle mod. Strange, I went in today and it worked first time via long coding and didn't ask for a security code. I also coded the "driving profile switchover" as per this thread, the code 19249 worked :)  but have not noticed any difference with either after a short drive around.

This is what I have coded so far (in reverse order), thanks for the replies!
