Clocks going back

Featured Replies

I was half expecting my FL's clock to adjust itself for the end of BST (DST) but it hasn't.....does this happen with some options I don't have?

I’m sure you can change the settings with VCDS to allow it to automatically change. Not a direct answer to your question though.

No, there is no automatic option. It is fairly straightforward, though: in the date and time submenu of your infotainment system's settings there is a DST option where you just check/uncheck the box.

There is with VCDS. Can confirm it worked a treat on the weekend too

I stand corrected

I enabled it on mine previously (when it did not change to Summer time) and although it was on, it did not change now to winter time.

I think you need to have either GPS or MIB2 or both

I got in and out of the car on Sunday, each time setting the clock back 1hr behind the steering wheel, each time it reset itself back

I believe it uses GPS for the time. I'm running MIB1 Columbus but think it works with Amundsen too. Guessing you must have Bolero then?

VCDS trick works on my MIB1 Amundsen. :)

Works on MIB2 Amundsen. Setting is to read from GPS.

No need to interfere.

Errr, I unticked the BST box no, it wasn't complicated but yes, I am proud of myself

Yes it should if you tick GPS as the time source. Mine was set to manual, with BST un ticked.

Ticked GPS and it changed to the correct time :)

OK, so we've established that it may be automated. But doesn't anybody miss the good old fashioned winding of clocks, watches etc.? That part of me which is OCD surely loves that twice a year all my time instruments are synchronised at the second :dull:. Up until a few years ago I even used to call the speaking clock . So I would still choose to do that manually, I guess

Yep, this worked for me too the other day. Default seems to be manual time setting.

Fair enough, but with a manual setting they will eventually drift out of sync. With GPS they are always synced.

each to their own though :)

Mine auto-corrected (I did the VCDS tweak last year) - I have a MIB1 Amundsen with sat nav.

Yeah, just to clarify, I have Bolero MIB1 (no navigation...) and it did not work for me.

So I have Nav and the time source was/is set to GPS but this just corrects the time unless I'm mistaken, which will be +1 hour if DST is checked. Correct?

So if I understand it correctly in order to automatically go forward/back I need to do the VCDS tweak, yes?

Just out of interest does the DST box then show as ticked/unticked as appropriate?

I think I'm in this camp.

Our NAV equipped Octavia is set to run with GPS time, but I found the Summer (DST)  check box and Time Zone were wrongly set - though time has been reading correctly all summer.

All straightened out now.  I can handle 2 ticks a year without VCDS adjustment.

The real question is why dont they move time forwards, instead of backwards thus shortening the daylight?

It does move forward in the spring to give us longer daylight evenings, but needs to go back in the winter when the available daylight is shorter.  The working day is considered the priority.

I found a Golf post on this showing the DST tickbox and description are replaced with "Automatic DST Adjust ment" or something similar when you make the VCDS tweak.

Yep, there's a menu item after coding, this is the screen of my MIB1 Amundsen:
