Xenon level switch - rear suspension

Featured Replies

Anyone seen this problem? The rod that connects the lower suspension arm to the levelling switch for the Xenon headlights on my Superb II (58) has snapped.

I had an issued with a snapped spring last year on that nearside rear corner of the car and can only assume that the rod snapped then. The lower ball connector is very stiff/stuck solid so that's probably caused the failure. No idea how the switch itself didn't break.

Going to see whether the garage can weld it or may bite the bullet and get a whole replacement unit.

Apparently this is an MoT failure as well.

Annoyingly it seems that the link rod is not available as a spare part, you have to buy the whole sensor assembly, part number is 3T0941273. I'd check whether the sensor itself is ok before going any further. You should be able to check that the sensor is changing its output as the link moves using measuring blocks in VCDS. If it doesn't work, then you're going to be replacing the whole lot anyway. If you just need the rod, a scrapyard might be able to find one for you.

Reminds me of the short gear linkage rod Peugeot used on the old 106's and those spot light steady bars you used to get back in the 80's / 90's. Mazda use a similar sensor on the RX8, and Land Rover on the TD5's for the air suspension.

The arm on my Yeti's sensor has gone and done the same as yours.

How did you get one with a repair / replacement on your Superb?

My usual part number catalogs don't appear to be available any longer - so, does anyone know what the correct part number is for a 2010 Yeti (since the unit can only be purchased complete... which is not exactly environmentally friendly!)

Thanks.

Sensor 3T0941273

I put in the above to a search and it came up with lots of different suppliers. The first few were £65-£82 for the whole assembly.

@KBPhoto - just to add to more Danny's part number suggestion

FWD and 4x4 will probably use different sensors, I think that:

- 1K0941273L is for PR-1X0 (FWD)

- 3T0941273 is for PR-1X1 (4x4)

Thank you.

Found one of the 3T0941273 parts online for £55 delivered, so think I'll just go for that and hope that I can get the bolts out easily as some have corroded in order to replace it.

Penetrating fluid lots and let it work, then more penetrating fluid and let that work as well before trying, that is it does not come out easily to begin with.

That was my plan... but snow, freezing temperatures, high winds and lots of rain here (West Coast of Scotland) hasn’t encouraged me to get under the car recently!

Will get at it soon though as it’s due an MOT in April...
