Disappearing warning message

Featured Replies

Has anyone come across this before and do you know what it is

Three times in the past few weeks a warning message has flashed up in the digital display between the dials and then disappeared almost instantly. I’ve been able to make out the words ‘Error: workshop...’ at the start of the message but nothing else because it disappears so quickly.

It has happened only start-up first thing in the morning, or a few hundred yards after driving off from a morning start. Nothing in the vehicle condition monitor, no sign there’s anything wrong with the car at all/

Anyone else had this??

Yes - but cannot add any more to your concise description!

Nice to know there’s someone sharing my pain. And bafflement...

A message on the maxidot display should have a acompanying fault code in one of the ECUs.

A OBD scanner, VCDS or a trip to the dealer would be best to understand where the problem is coming from.

It’s going to be plugged into the diagnostic Death Star on Thursday. They had no idea what it might be when I went in to book it.

Update. It was plugged into the Death Star this morning and the computer came back with ‘selector lever park position implausibe signal’ as a sporadic fault signal. But no way of interrogating system further & no obvious fault with the DSG.

So monitor & return if it keeps happening.

Sounds like a ghost in the machine, but who knows?

This is the same message my ODBeleven has.

Something with your dsg.

Expect it to fail when warranty runs out.

Known problem, needs a new gear selector assembly.

See here:

As MoggyTech says, new gear assembly. Had mine done under warranty. No issues since (fingers crossed)!

It relates to a switch (I’m told) that says the gear lever is in park. If this is faulty, the car panics and says ‘call the dealer!’

Pretty sure the car is safe to drive before you get it fixed.

There is a technical bulletin that Skoda are aware of. Possibly in the link I’ve posted. If not, come back to me and I’ll find it. Good luck!

Car’s in warranty until end of March next year, PCP comes to an end in August.

It’s going to be an anxious summer, by the sound of it...unless I talk to them about an early change?

But it’s clearly an electronic switch problem, not a mechanical fault.
