Find something new

Granted the tech is getting on a bit i today realised the cd player is also a dvd player.

It's not really new, I had this in my 2007 VRs.

I hadnt really looked tbh. It wasnt a deal breaker. I was surprised it had a cd player for a 66 plate.

The DVD will only show on the screen when the car is stationary.... much to my kids disappointment!

I thought as much. Why fit the unit if it cannot display on the move.

Backwards technology.

Because it would be illegal and dangerous.

Im sure everyone reading is well aware if the safety implications myself included.

I was more expecting the system would be a split screen whereby the driver cannot 'see' what is being played. Unfortunately even for the 'exec' ' top model' its beyond skoda.

Pity.

I personally dont wish to sit in a stationary car to watch a dvd.

Skodas good idea is badly executed.

I was once told by a friend of mine, who happend to be a Skoda Salesman the if you set the car to German the DVD will play on the move. I've never had a car with DVD so I don't know if it's true or not.

Something I didn't notice before:

Even though the invoice states "ACC (160kph) without Speed Limiting Function" (or something along those lines), the car has a hidden speed limiter function.

At the bottom of the ACC stalk, much closer to the steering wheel than the toggle to set the distance to the previous car, there's a rather inconspicuous button. Push it, and the car goes from standard ACC to Speed Limiting function. Quite a handy tool in average speed check zones.

I'm looking for other stuff that's "hidden" whenever I drive the car now :)

kriva, it tells you about that in the manual - that's how I found the button ;)

Sure, but I didn't think that would apply to mine, since it specifically states "without" speed limiter on the invoice. As such, I skipped the speed limiter part of the manual. ;)

Leaving aside the fact that it is illegal and that it is dangerous, you can have the DVD set so you, or rather your passengers, can watch it when the car is moving.

It can be set to on using an OBDeleven tool. It is probably possible using the VCDS tool if you know the correct code.
