"new" car :-D retrofittings info

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

oops, I did it again..

after the Octavia MK2 I bought almost 3 years ago, yesterday I got myself a SuperB Combi 2.0TDI, Style edition, 100k miles, february 2013.

It was the fullest car money could buy, in this area (Verona, Italy), seats with memory, bluetooth, big crystal sunroof, trailer hitch, electrochromic outside mirrors, bending bixenon headlights, 18" wheels, electric trunk opening/closing, DSG, rear parking sensors, navigation ecc

I have few questions for you SuperB Experts, let's start:

1) can the original 4 spoke multifunction steering wheel be replaced with the Octavia 2 VRs 3 spoke one? Looks to me they share the same components, but I'm wondering about the airbag

2) I would VERY like to retrofit the front parking sensors... the kit is about 320€, but I think the amount of working-hours needed will be huge

3) I'm missing the sharkfin aerial on the roof, even if the hole is already present, it's filled with an oem black shiny plastic cap. I'm putting the bluetooth unit with rSAP, so the external aerial would be greatly appreciated.

Plus, the navigation unit was fit by the seller, and he sticked a magnetic GPS antenna inside the dashboard, but this doesn't quite satisfy me. if you want things well done, you do them yourself!

Is the shark fin antenna fittable WITHOUT DISMANTLING the whole car ceiling? Maybe just the rear part, accessible from the trunk, and then routing the two cables down to the floor following a pillar?

I got myself ELSAwin and started looking for information, and I can hack with VCDS if needed

Well, I think that's enough, for the moment

Glad to share my happiness with you all, I hope to get some replies and see you soon

About steering wheel - search forum, there was a thread with part numbers - at least 6 months old ;)

And of course beef it up ;) What engine - 140 or 170 ? No 4x4 ?

Thank you very much, I'll go through the forum and get it.

Plus I heard that wheels from newer models can be fitted, with some adjustments to make multifunction commands work... I'll work on it!

2.0TDI 140hp, but it's de-DPFed, de-EGRed and mapped to 170. DSG control unit has been mapped too, using the 170hp coding :-)

Beautiful! Amazing!

Will the multifunction keys function without any coding issues?

Thank you very much indeed for sharing!

As long as the buttons are originally from a MK2 FL Superb or Yeti they should.

If they are from a MK3 Octavia, MK3 Superb or MK3 Fabia, they won't...

That's exactly what I needed to know :-D

Wow, I never noticed the "air recirculation" button on the wheel, I don't have it on my pre-FL buttons.

I think http://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/three-spoke-steering-wheels-3/oem-5l0419091l-bgw-mfsw-for-skoda/#prettyPhoto this could do the trick!

Do you mean the one on the left side? That's input select, it allows you to change which source you're listening to.

It was on pre-FL buttons but only where bluetooth wasn't installed :)

Thanks for the explanation, I never knew such command even existed..
