Hi all, new driver here - I got a 2013 1.6 tdi Hatch with just over 200k on it.

There car has only had one previous owner and he has taken good care of it overall.

My only complain is the acceleration from stand-still - I know it's only a 1.6 but it feels excessively sluggish. After reading this thread I am suspecting that the DPF is probably clogged - I tested this by driving for 15-20 mins at motorway speeds in 4th gear keeping the rpm high, this did make a difference but it was short-lived.

My question is - is it possible to clean the DPF instead of dropping £1k on a replacement ?

Have you had any Blocked DPF light or are you aware of frequents regens?

Do you actually know if the DPF is still intact and has not been stripped and mapped out.

Since 2017 was the car given the FIX for the VW cheating, so the new Engine Management and a flow device put in the air intake.

I have been getting an intermittent check engine light which goes away if I run the car in 4th gear at motorway speeds for 15-20 mins, plus after long runs the fan keeps running after I turn the car off, and I get almost like a burning smell when I step out.

The car hasn't had any modification - as far as the previous owner has told me, all emission measures are in place.
