  • They look fun   but £13k for a tiny car is abit much for me.    Theyll be good on the used market in a year or so imo.

  • There will be plenty to choose from if VW keep on producing them. 1 careful more mature driver, or dealership / media car and one private owner.

^^^ Is that the Engine note you get if there is no sound generator putting an engine noise into the car, or is there not one of those?

So if you open the windows you get an idea what other people hear.

I'm happy to be cocooned in that engine sound, with the windows shut for 90%of the year. When the windows are open ,still pretty good sound .

Guess that question could be asked about many premium car's,  even 6pot BMW 's and other with sound generators . Or also  the mode to change external sound also from the exhaust. Thank god its not like Fords pop and bang ,like a bag of nails rattling.

Is it a fake sound in the cabin then on the video that can be done away with?

OK, so does not sound synthetic,  but is the sound in the cabin synthetic just not synthetic sounding?  It is Autocar after all,  the man that questioned Old Military Roads and they seem to go to some big house, doh.    They being the Original road they go from Castle to Castle, so yes big houses.

You need to take the Up! for a wee blast. Looking forward to hearing it.

Probably a bit much for the Up GTi to compete with. May not on vfm or availability?

Bit more space and small family useability with the Up!

Looks like the Up GTI is unique.  Is it really the only VW Model currently with WLTP results.

My first week of ownerships in this fun package.

Put 250miles on in the first week of ownership, mainly around the Wiltshire and Gloucestershire country A B & C roads. Cracking fun car ,handles Well and that throaty 3pot revving 2.0k to 5k rpm. Brings a youthful smile to your face. In conclusion, loving this not so little package.

Spare full size alloy matching spare , would be £350 including the the Goodyear Efficient from Blackcircle approx. £95.0

Approximately 400miles in a tank of fuel showing at the moment , after 200 brisk miles of the 250travelled so far. Happy Days!

So now just passed 4000 well run-in miles, this little punchy hatch grows on you, so much  so that the Boxster and the R mk7.5 take a back seat at present, most days it's the UPGTI keys that get chosen these days. So much so ,that its uniqueness within about a 30mile radius of my home, draws in on- lookers and loads of interested potential punters

A cracking ,smile on your face package, at under 150bhp and £15000.

One very happy old fart.

Just over 4000 miles now in my UP GTi and loving it more and more. The keys get grabbed before the Boxster 981 or the Golf R mk7.5, both of which are high on my fav list. However, just given my Up,GTi a hard life, over the last 2 1/2 weeks Devizes to Bristol BRI hospital to visit my son  who has been pretty ill. That's 1500 miles of brisk driving added unexpectedly. This  car still puts a smile a mile into my journey of, twisty Cs Bs and As. Plus 70 plus down M4 and into the City centre M32.Loaded up with stuff and travelling using that torque constantly, yet still yielding in the 53mpg, with average speed into the mid to high 30 running on Tesco Momentum. I'm seriously loving this car. Bring on a Clubsport / Clubsport S version asap please VW .

So yesterday Sunday 13th May, took my other son to Cyrstal Palace's last home game of the season, Devizes to Selhurst Park South London,  mainly M4 &South Circular ,100 miles door to door,2 1/4 hours ,no aching back or discomfort-amazing. ( my missus's Polo GTI 1.8 seats fitted would be better for side bolster support) So 58.8 mpg, at an average speed of 41 mph, as you can appreciate 60 to 85 mph plus at times, on the bulk of the M4 , except for Newbury Jn to Reading Jn 50 mph restricted road works.
Return journey pretty much the same.
Other than an increase in road noise levels, not much difference to the Golf R on this trip, probably 15 mins longer each way and not quite so smooth or quiet but not an issue to either of us, still a smile a mile day for us..
Lots of sideways looks on motorway  & South Circ and when parked up passer-by comments .

So Countryside, long motorway and City / Suburbia, not an issues, all rounder amazing- wasn't really expecting that.

We will hope the transit blocks are removed and that the customer goes sets there own tyre pressures, checks the oil and coolant etc, and the wheel nuts,

or was the car not actually as it came off the boat and the trailer?  (7 min. 55,  'PDI job')

Andrew is the owner George, think he knows a thing or three about VWs /GTIs

Think the PDI would have been done correctly with him over seeing ,as he did when picking up his Golf GTI Clubsport S  - plus he is the sort of guy who would double check it anyway.

You might expect so, but what a messing about getting a set of registration plates stuck on.

Run a line of masking tape below where the reg plate will go, stand back be happy with that as not squint.

Offer up the plate, mark each side with a marker, this is where the plate is going, measure from the points to be sure centred, stick on plate.

Takes no extra time really, first time application and not squint.

That was a really crappy hand over IMO.
